2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take
-
Hi imami
I feel doing PV is not just abt clocking the 40hrs or 60hrs (in some schools), u get to know the school & teachers better & assess if this is the school for your child. -

With reducing birthrate, getting child into preferred school should be easier. Right?wow...saw the results are out from Phase 1...
my choice of sch only left half of the vacancy for the Phase 2....
Heng this year is not the year yet...
Looking at this year number, this might be the case.
Nowadays, parents are better educated and informed thus more KS.
And with the booming tutition centres island wide, getting a guarantee place in 2B or 2C is almost impossible without balloting. -
Yes, the birth rate is not high nowadays…but found the latest direction of MOE is plan to change to one session for all school in coming few years, so some of the school start to reach this by cut down the P1 vacancies that they could offered. This is what I worried… Don’t know how many vacancy will be offer in 2014 year.

Most of the neighborhood including malls, CC conducts some form of enrichment, tuition...etc for pre-primary onwards.
Which inadvertly influence parents behavior (those not so KS to become KS as well). How often does kid education crop up among friends meetings? Very often we tends to follow the herd mentality (KSu and KSi). -
My ger will be registering for her primary 1 in 2014 too. We have no problem on this for my son. We got in ACS via 2a1. For my ger, I have a few choice.
1) marymount convent (1km)
2) Kuochuan preb (1km)
3) pei Chun (1km)
Which school will be better ? -

Are u sure the reduced birthrate is helping our kids getting into preferred schools???

the reduced birthrate is not helping as we still have new citizens + new PRs every year whose kids are also going to pri sch too(and those parents who have kids under the phase 1 + old boys/gals from that school)... and the direction from MOE is not helping cos all are going to be in a single session soon which mean more schools with reduced classes... and more new pri schools built but no one wants to be register cos of no history and so on...
Usually our \"preferred\" schools are of some long historys, establishment or some achievements. That is why i was saying that the school i want my DD in (in 2015) already have half seats taken this yr... but luckily my DD can register under phase 2A2 in year to come....
It is definately not Ksu or Ksi... -
Asking my wife to do PV at Chongfu
60 HRs
hopefully we can put my first DD to that school , heard it is quite good but dunno la
if she cannot adapt…then may have to set a lower expectation -

For sure, reducing birthrate does not improve our chances especially for this year. However come P2B and P2C, i do believe we will continue to see popular schools including some neighhbour schools being over subscribed (situation might be worse than previous years). Why are we seeing such trends ?
1. Is it new citizens ? by such large extent affecting national wide registeration ???
2. Single session - i recalled target is 2016 and MOE is gradually cutting/increasing existing school allocation and building new schools. We are already seeing big spike in some neighbourhood schools.
3. Or other factors such as increasing number of enrichment/tution...etc targeting pre-school - I do think this factor contributed the most to the increased in this year registration (P1/P2A1/P2A2 - Increased awareness/Willingness to travel further). An example (NHPS):
Yr 2010 more than 2km P1 to P2A2 is 84
Yr 2011 more than 2km P1 to P2A2 is 117
Yr 2012 more than 2km P1 to P2A1 is 78 (P2A2 not included)
(P2B to P2C) - increased number of applications.
CHS might be pretty close again this year for P2A2 balloting.
Hopefully new SC policy will eliminate PR who uses church membership for P2B and give Singaporean is better chance (if any). -
Hi,
I’m seriously thinking of register my girl in St Nicholas. We are in 2B phrase as we are catholic but living >2km away. I went to MOM website to see the registration result for 2013 in-take and 2A1 phrase has taken more than half of the place, only left 72 vacancies for phrase 2A2 and by the time it reaches 2B prob left none. Looking at the stats and it is worrying me. I wonder beside being Alumni or old girls, what else can I do to bring up my chance…
