Hi! Please help to find a preschool of low T-S ratio..

Hi all!
I’m new. I’m EmmaW. I’m a working mum and I have a little boy turning 4 end Nov this year. I have been reading the forum from time and time and I find the information here very interesting and helpful. I signed up today cus the childcare centre my boy is currently in has suggested to me to move him to another centre with lower teacher-student ratio (preferably 1-4) since he seems to require personalised attention. I really don’t know what to do… I have not come across a centre with such a low ratio. Another centre I brought him to check out yesterday refused to accept him. They suggested that he has mild autism. I am very sad and am at a loss how to help my boy.
I have already made an appointment at the Child Development Unit at Jurong Medical Centre in July. Outcome of the assessment, I will deal with it then. Now I need to find him a school who is willing to work with me to help him.
If any parent out there has come across a good centre with such low ratio, please advise. -

Depending on where you are residing, you can try Montessori based centres. Montessori centres offer low teacher:child ratio, however the ratio differs between centre to centre. Your profile states your area of residence is Tampines however you are bringing your child to Jurong? So, do you stay in Tampines or Jurong? Since you are a full time working mom, you would require a childcare centre.
For Jurong area, you can try..
1. Little Wonders Montessori Childcare Centre ( Jurong West Branch )
82 Westwood Crescent Singapore 648782 Tel : 6795 0200
2. Ichiban Montessori Child Care Centre
98 Yunnan Crescent Singapore 638310 Tel : 6790 1480
3. Modern Montessori Preschool Centre
20 Jurong West Street 93 #01-01 Singapore 648965 Tel : 6515 4544
4. Advanced Montessori International
Blk 451 Jurong West St 42 #01-178/176 Singapore 640451 Tel : 65606066
Not sure of Montessori childcare centres in the East though, so can't help you there.
By the way, did the teacher feedback why your child needs the personalized attention? Any behavioural or academic feedback with regards to this? In the meantime, you can network with other moms with special needs at this link should you require some support or more depth abt children with special needs. > http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewforum.php?f=75 <
There is also a thread about Montessori education, schools and support here at this link. > http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=906 <
In the meantime, take care and stay positive. :hugs: -

Hi EmmaW, you can try odyssey global preschool, my niece was there when she was 2 yrs old, their ratio (then) was 1:4. but the fee is rather steep so, be prepared for it.

I don’t have an answer for you but I can imagine your fear.
Even if he has mild autism, I’m not saying he does, it is not the end of the world. Autism has a very wide spectrum and a child may just have some difficulty connecting with another human being, but can be brilliantly smart. In my opinion, it is better knowing, cos then you will know where to find support groups, or specialists who can help or teach you how to manage them. In any case, this is jumping to conclusions. Let’s see what the results say, and then you go from there.
All the best.
