I think for GEP students regardless of whether pass GAT or not still need to go for interview. This even was announced during the GAT exam according to my DS (my DS took GAT cause <80).

DS didn't finish 10 out of 60 and his friend 13 out 60, but both got notification for interview.

Do you need to pay extra for the GAT?
