My comments have been misread/misunderstood.
Are u sure the reduced birthrate is helping our kids getting into preferred schools???THC:
With reducing birthrate, getting child into preferred school should be easier. Right?
Looking at this year number, this might be the case.
Nowadays, parents are better educated and informed thus more KS.
And with the booming tutition centres island wide, getting a guarantee place in 2B or 2C is almost impossible without balloting.
the reduced birthrate is not helping as we still have new citizens + new PRs every year whose kids are also going to pri sch too(and those parents who have kids under the phase 1 + old boys/gals from that school)... and the direction from MOE is not helping cos all are going to be in a single session soon which mean more schools with reduced classes... and more new pri schools built but no one wants to be register cos of no history and so on...
Usually our \"preferred\" schools are of some long historys, establishment or some achievements. That is why i was saying that the school i want my DD in (in 2015) already have half seats taken this yr... but luckily my DD can register under phase 2A2 in year to come....
It is definately not Ksu or Ksi...
For sure, reducing birthrate does not improve our chances especially for this year. However come P2B and P2C, i do believe we will continue to see popular schools including some neighhbour schools being over subscribed (situation might be worse than previous years). Why are we seeing such trends ?
1. Is it new citizens ? by such large extent affecting national wide registeration ???
2. Single session - i recalled target is 2016 and MOE is gradually cutting/increasing existing school allocation and building new schools. We are already seeing big spike in some neighbourhood schools.
3. Or other factors such as increasing number of enrichment/tution...etc targeting pre-school - I do think this factor contributed the most to the increased in this year registration (P1/P2A1/P2A2 - Increased awareness/Willingness to travel further). An example (NHPS):
Yr 2010 more than 2km P1 to P2A2 is 84
Yr 2011 more than 2km P1 to P2A2 is 117
Yr 2012 more than 2km P1 to P2A1 is 78 (P2A2 not included)
(P2B to P2C) - increased number of applications.
CHS might be pretty close again this year for P2A2 balloting.
Hopefully new SC policy will eliminate PR who uses church membership for P2B and give Singaporean is better chance (if any). -
Hi,
I’m seriously thinking of register my girl in St Nicholas. We are in 2B phrase as we are catholic but living >2km away. I went to MOM website to see the registration result for 2013 in-take and 2A1 phrase has taken more than half of the place, only left 72 vacancies for phrase 2A2 and by the time it reaches 2B prob left none. Looking at the stats and it is worrying me. I wonder beside being Alumni or old girls, what else can I do to bring up my chance… -

Some SC and PR might be having same thoughts and unless MOE changes policy, it would be very difficult to get into prior P2B. -

Hi Hi
Can I just check is this for registration for child born in 2008? hehe... I m new here so am abit lost.
I see so many parents getting ready and I'm still dun know what to do. :slapshead:
Would like to check if my hubby outstation quite often and I stay at mum place with my boys when hubby not in town, can I change my address to mum's address (is it ok to do that?) and enrol my boy to a school that is within 1km from mum place. My mum has been taking care of the boy since was born and even after going to full day CC, we still go back every night for dinner. The CC is also near her.
I dun intend to enrol boy near my place cos I would need mum help for his meal before and after school and fetch him to and from school, etc so it would be good if I could get a place in the school near her.
Pls advise as I m really lost as what I suppose to do. btw, the school is Kong Hwa and as from the past history, I can see that the chance of going in is slim even at Phase2C (1km-2km). :?:
Thanks in advance

So, I presume all your bills, etc. are sent to your own house? If that is the case, how are you going to change the address in your NRIC?
