Hi Tiggermum
Since I read through your posts in this thread, I know that yr girl has no any Math Olympiad reward when she apply for this school. Can u share how her study in this subject as I want to know if one is not very strong in Math, can still survive in this school.
Thanks. -

Although DD did not participate in MO in primary school, she's been studying Math at Kumon centre for many years and is doing Math ahead of her peers. I suspect that is the reason why she is still able to cope with the Math curriculum at NUSH. I'm not sure what your definition of 'not very strong in Math' is, cos everybody's benchmark is different. But looking at what DD is currently doing, the Math curriculum seems to be moving faster than mainstream secondary school. At sec 1, she is now studying Matrix (which I discovered while scouting reference books for her, is actually taught in Sec 3 for mainstream O level schools). So I would think one would need to be able to grasp Mathematical concepts quite quickly in order to cope at NUSH.
In addition, certain topics in Physics also involve a fair bit of calculation, so Math will come in as well.
We did glance through DD's homework, and the worksheets are not out to kill, but to reinforce the Math concepts taught. I think the NUSH system is more like a 'semi-buffet'. Instead of making everybody in the same level studying the same thing, they give the student some flexibility and choice. The core Math modules will cover the basics, and if the student is keen for more challenging material, he/she can take up the Math Olympiad module (which is an elective and not compulsory). DD is somewhat slack and chose not to do MO, but is doing ok in Math, so we left her to make her decision.
We used to think that DD is quite good at Math, but after hearing how she describe her classmates, we concluded that \"δΈε±±θΏζδΈε±±ι«β, there are so many who are more knowledgable than her in NUSH! She's just ordinary! -

Website stated: by 13 jul 2012, that's today fri 13th :xedfingers:
But it stated that notification for short listed applicant, so not sure if there be any news if not selected for camp.
Anyone can clarify? -

Tiggermum, can share if your gal likes the school? Teachers caring? How is the culture like? Do you think it's better than the conventional IP/Sec schools? Do the kids have equal opportunities or only those few good ones are being chosen for competition or overseas trips or any exposure? Anything that you think is good in A level track but lack in NUS and vice versa.

Sorry for asking so many questions as I am in a dilemma now - DS keen to go this school & I am not sure if he is able to make it, should I let him. Pm me if possible if it's not convenient to speak here. TIA. -

Heard some comments that NUSH will mould them into fixed career/options etc too early in life. What is your opinion? -
Just called NUS High admission dept. They said that the result will be uploaded this evening.
