Hey, Martin, you the P6 Level Rep?

Looks like you are also a Kiasu Daddy too. πŸ˜„

Talking about maths, Cath High is always good at maths since long long time ago.

I even more kiasu, my boy got 3 maths teachers (school teacher, tuition teacher and of course myself *ahem*).

      Martin-MoneyTree:
My son, P6 this year, has gone through the Catholic High Conceptual teaching methods.

        Me stay SBW.

My boy sleeps at 9pm, wakes up at 5.30am, get out of house abt 6am for the school bus, reach school abt 6.45am, half an hour earlier than school assembly for past 5 years.

You do everything including booking school bus during orientation.

By the way its CHS, not CHPS.

        TicTacToe:
        Hi all, :?:

Anyone with info on sch bus for kids staying in Sembawang to CHPS?
Its fees and travelling time? Could the kids eat and nap on the bus?
No experience here.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks in advance ya.. πŸ˜„
SBW is not as far as you think from CHS. If you drive direct (not like school bus move around and stop a lot), its 15 to 20 minutes drive if you beat the \"JAM\" area and time.
        vodkacat:
i called up the bus transport 1 week ago they can't quote mi the price yet cos they gg to raise up 15 percent (price) more next year. u stay in sembawang wow the journey is quite long. yr child is in P1 next year too?

All schools do their \"internal streaming\" for teacher to manage the student's progress better.

P3 to P4 only take out the GEP pupils into their own classes

          CHS does it 2 times,
          1. P2 to P3
          2. P4 to P5

P5 will be you boy's likely permanent class and also all the HCL together.

Go to school more often like Martin and me, you will know which are the better classes and may change year to year. πŸ˜„

By the way, they do not use A, B, C, D, E, F, G (210 total with 30 each class for P1) anymore. They use names like Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness. P4 will add 1 more class with 2 classes for GEP.

GEP stays in GEP. Non GEP, better class also have students who fails, the other classes also have students who get good grades.

Do not be too upset if you boy gets into the other classes and do not be too happy when he is in better class. The outcome of race between the Hare and the Tortoise will only know when PSLE result releases.

But you can calculate where your boy is in the whole level in terms of approx. percentile and approx. position by using the statistic attachment slip given in the report book.

          MaryMa:
My son is going to become a P4 student in Catholic High next term .
Is it like the other school that the classes are separated as good class and regular class? And which class is the best class?

            Momma Joan:
I was told that from last year's P3 class, they had done away with having a best class followed by a 2nd best class. There are now supposedly only 2 top classes, Goodness and Kindness. This is suppose to diffuse the stong competition, selfishness and \"kiasuism\" prevalent in the \"best\" class.

But goodness will always be a better class than kindness, despite what the school says as it being the 2 top classes, and no differential.

If not, then why does the top students from each class tend to be sent to \"goodness\"? Even top boys from kindness streams into goodness?

And pri 4goodness has extra programmes, eg. twinning prog with gep like ss and bicep. pri 4 kindness doesn't have.

With a class of 40, there are bound to be students who are slower in Goodness and Kindness. Do the teachers go at breakneck speed expecting that all the kids (being in the top classes) will be able to cope? Anyone with kids in these classes with experience to share?

                Not sure about other levels.

But this years P5 going to P6 next yaer, I am also horrified by the huge numbers of stidents in this 2 so call "better" class, wondering how the teacher cope with such huge numbers. One class has HCL and the other does not.

Are you referring to p6goodness(HCL) & p6peace(non-HCL)? Is your son from one of these classes? Generally the teachers manage. p6peace is poor in CL so may have many additional CL sessions after school - improving by sheer memorising & hard work.

Not from my experience - no \"breakneck\" speed I mean. But my ds2 is one of the slower ones though. HAHA.

                      I am refering to this year's P5 Kindness (P5E & some HCL) and P5 Goodness (P5F & HCL), the 2 better classes.

My boy not in these classes. He is in another also some HCL class (shiiiisss....). πŸ˜„

Talking about breakneck speed, the school has covered in P5 some P6 topic already.

So once school start, its \"cheong\" all the way.
