Opinions of the Primary School Registration System
-
I think need to view the new policy in context. The policy is to give SC pirority in the event there's a need for balloting. It's not meant to reduce application for phase 1- phase 2A2, so that there will be more vacancies for phase 2B and Phase 2C.
I view existing registration policy as giving priority to parents who have existing or past relationship with the school, meaning either 1st kid studying in the school now or parent was a student, etc as per criteria stated in each phase.
I think it is impossible to please all parents. I think in the case of P1 registration, the gvt's task is to make sure all eligible kids have a primary school to go in P1 via a systematic process. The rest are choices made by
parents. I did not exercise my Phase 2A2 rights last yr becos the school was too far, I have a ds to consider, it will be logistics madness to ferry my dds and ds later on if they are in different school and my views are different from my parents' choice for me.

All the best to all the parents under phase 2B and Phase 2C. I was under Phase 2B last year, I can understand the stress though my choice of school do not induce as much stress as compared to other schools. Have back-up plans. -

As a GRL, u should heed Mr Heng's advice that every school is good school. Choose a school u can 100% get in via 2B iso wasting it. Who else to bring MP's msg to us besides the GRL. Lead by example. Can anyone give me some guidance on what is a good back up plan?
I stay within 1km to Henry Park and 1-2km to Fairfield Methodist, under the Phase 2b GRL, I can opt for schools in Tanjong Pagar GRC or Holland Bukit Timah GRC
Initial plan was HPPS since I am within 1km under Phase 2b and even Phase 2c, but there are only 12 slots left!!!... What is a good back up plan? HELP!!!! -

Well said! GRL should lead by example and demonstrate to the public that \"Every school is a good school\" Who would be the better person other than GRL and the government themselves to lead the example to enter their children to the rest of the school than in the popular ones.

Is Mr Heng very sure of this \"All schools are good school\" statement? Face the fact!! There are too many Kucing Kurat schools than good schools that's why we have this problem year after year.

From the MOE website indeed it said that.

But also note that ballot will also kick in if the demand in Phase 2C supp exceed the supply of the sch. That means you will have to go through the 2nd round of ballot!
Yes the rules of balloting apply from phase 2A- phase 3. The only phase guaranteed for SC and PR is phase 1. From MOE website \"All children registered under this phase will be given places in the schools.\" still must be either SC or PR lah -
Hello, dear parents. does anyone know how many Permanent Residents or New Citizens applied for Phase 1 and 2A1 and 2A2 and got accepted? (for ACSB and SJIJ?) How best can we get this info, if it is not readily made public? Thanks.
