Invisible Grille

Your blog is informative. I have been thinking about installing invisible grilles but I find that they still look very visible and i will still feel that i am inside a ‘prison’ but I am staying on a high floor and I am worried if I take out my existing grilles, my kids could fall over…sigh, really not sure what to do.

If u already have the aluminium wrought grille, then don't change to invisible, if u don't have anything and need something for protection but don't want the conventional type, invisible grille is a good choice

The invisible is nice but might be inconvenient as it is fixed on the windows permanently and cannot be opened unless u remove it. So you might want to consider how to clean the windows, what if your window spoilt and need a repair, and over long time it'll get loosen if your kids just like to pull the string.

Is this worth consideration? The SCDF ladder reaches up to 8th storeys high. 8 and below stories should have removable grilles? Anyway, just to share, we gave this a quick consideration as well but realised that the conventional grilles works better for us, able to take out laundry, clean windows, and more cost effective. We went with the aluminium horizontal bars.

just to share my bad experience with le-gate when i got them to install invisible grilles for my place…

The sales pitch from the salesman who came to my place was good, he didnt have to say much cos I already set my mind to install them so I signed up on the spot.

He promised to call me in a week’s time to set up another appointment for measurement. He did not do so and I had to call the company 3 times before he return my call reluctantly.

Thereafter, he promised to come on a certain date to install and again, fail to call me again when the date arrives to confirm timing. So I had to call them again and chase them.

I think singapore service level has improved quite a bit, I mean, if you compared to 5-10 years ago and it’s been a long time since I encountered such a disappointing service…repeatedly failing to turn up at appointed times. I can understand if you missed my appointment once, but to do it twice, I think there is a problem with the system or sales people there. It makes me wonder whether they will do a good job of my grilles and installing them…

Again, I was very unhappy to be dealing with them but no choice, I have paid the deposit. Just to share with people my unpleasant experience.

Hi I intend to get invisible grille for my balcony and 3 rooms. I am looking for reasonable priced invisible grille. Wondering you have suppliers or brand that you will recommend?

Had a few issues with the mcst regarding installation of invisible. Not sure if you guys face any problems? Anyway I got 3 quotes, legate, invisys and csa.

Was pretty disappointed with legate as their salesperson was late for an hr and when I ask them if they are able to get the mcst approval and he just said the mcst had already stated that its not approved but if I want, he will just install for me but there is nothing he can do. He seems abit pushy too.

Invisys showed me their product. Was quite confuse as the things that legate n invisys says are the exact opposite. Told me that they will try to get the mcst approval but haven't hear from them since.

Got csa contact from my id so decide to contact them. The salesperson seems quite experienced. Explain to me about the difference of materials used n quality and clearing my doubt of cleaning the windows after reading so many feedbacks. At first wasn't too keen as expect that a contact from a Id will usually end up more expensive but was surprise they are about 100 cheaper from my previous quotes. He even assure me that he is able to get the mcst approval. Wasn't pushy when I said I need to consider n wait for the mcst approval. He wrote to the management but the mcst was still firm on their stand.he even wrote to ura the next day n manage to get the approval from ura n then the management of my condo. Decide to go with csa at the end because of the service n product which seems identical to legate's but the test report seems rated higher.
Got the installation 3 days later and the workmanship is pretty good and the wires seems pretty sturdy though invisible grille is not that invisible :(. Much better than those aluminum though. The installer seems pretty nice too as they helped me drill a few holes for my paintings after the installation.The salesperson also called in the evening to make sure everything is ok and apologize for not being around. Pretty good after sales. I will strongly recommend them if u r interested in invisible grilles. If you prefer the movable kind, I will suggest the aluminum grille as invisible grille casement or sliding comes with a frame n it's much much more expensive and flimsy.

i installed the invisible grill in my living room and children's room windows and agree that it's very difficult to open and close the windows. i have a nice view outside my house and good wind circulation but for the past 1 year have had to keep my windows shut. the salesperson Charlotte recommended 2inch vertical gap because i have cats, although i prefer the 3 or 4 inch gaps, and horizontal because it looks nicer (vertical gaps really like prison gate). later she told me 3 inch no stock but i don't understand why since the screws all have to be drilled into the wall so what difference does it make if i opt for 3 inch . i assume maybe it's the frame so i let it be since i already put deposit. they used banglas to do the work and the lines were initially not straight. they were supposed to use laser pointers to mark the drill holes but they didn't. i had to ask them to come back and fix it again (means drill more holes).


last week i called Charlotte again asking her if possible to change from 2 to 4 inch gaps since the screws are already there so just restring the frame but she said not possible. she suggest to remove the current one at a charge of $180 and then drill again everything so pay a new package price :shock: . my current one already have at least 50 holes for the screws. i was very upset and she said she can \"try and experiment\" to see if it works. i asked her to check with her manager whether it can or cannot be done and revert to me - not to experiment. Still waiting for her call back.

My advice is if possible, just get the conventional grill at least can clean your windows. If grill is invisible but windows so dirty (from rain, sun, dust etc) also no point, looks ugly to me. If anyone has any contact to remove my current invisible grill please PM me - really cannot tahan deal with this company anymore :stompfeet:
