Is Qifa becoming more popular in recent years, as a second choice for those who can’t get into Nan Hua? I live within 1km, and will be registering during 2C…not particularly concerned about getting a space. The top PSLE scores over the past few years look good enough for at least some of the top secondary schools…

Not sure about average cohort scores or the ethnic composition of the school – I do note that the top 10 secondary schools consistently require PSLE 250-260+ and the top 10 students from Qifa seem to be scoring in that range for the past few years. The immediate neighborhood around Qifa is heavily Chinese; the newer condos in the area have a more international mix of students but most of them will not be Singapore Citizens (SC have absolute priority this year). As for Malays and Indians, they are probably drawing most from the HDB areas around Ayer Rajah Food Market and West Coast Road. I live in Monterey Park Condo less than 1 km from the school…daughter is SC.

Are you register your daughter in Qifa this year? I am going for P2C and currently still toying whether to try Nanhua since the seats left for P2C now is only 16.

Qifa is afternoon session for P1 right? this is actually my concern, otherwise I would have opt for Qifa for P2C without much thought since I am <1km of Qifa. I also need to look for BASC, and I'm not sure of any BASC around Qifa area. :slapshead:

Hi, yes I will be applying for 2C this year. With regard to BASC, I think the closest might be Town4Kids, where my daughter is currently enrolled in K2. They do seem to handle some Qifa students in the mornings...

Between Qi Fa and Clementi Primary - which is better? In terms of teachers quality, curriculum etc.

I don't have any specific data for comparison of the two, apart from what is offered on their respective websites and what is available from MOE and on this site.

Clementi seems to fill up faster, but that may be in part because it draws from a relatively high density HDB area within 1 km, and is close to Clementi MRT. Qifa is in West Coast, rather off by itself. In recent years, it seems to have become increasing popular and in 2010, filled up by end of 2C. According to its website, the top ten PSLE scores were within the acceptance range for the top 10 secondary schools. I don't have any comparable info on Clementi.

I live in West Coast, within 1 km of Qi Fa (stone’s throw) and Nan Hua and 2km of clementi primary. Any advice if i should PV for both? Which school should I register as my first choice? And what happen if i dont get a place in my 1st choice of schoo?
