Be careful which book you buy. I bought one from Popular -- it has a purple cover with a blue vertical strip and a marching band person (can't remember if it's boy or girl).

My daughter and I found tons of mistakes throughout the book. Grammar, spelling, punctuation -- you name it, the book has it. These mistakes are in the questions, they're not things the students are supposed to correct.

Could you please care to share which book? Then we will be more careful when we see that particular book. Thank you

      Fairfield????

if their science guide is one of those recommended ones and if their english books allegedly have obvious errors,, seems like Fairfield's niche is in science subjects!

            Hi champion,

I happened to buy one to try out…didn’t realise stories are easy to read and age appropriate, at least for my daughter. In fact, I also found some stories to include past tense and nouns. So I am planning to get books 3-6 now.

              Hi parents,

I have started a blog where I am posting free materials for parents to use to teach their kids English. My aim is not to make money directly from this site but to sell ad space through google ads. This way you guys can get resources for free. As an experienced tutor, I have a lot of resources so I can ‘donate’ it to you guys. Also, I will use the site to try new teaching techniques. My stuff is copyrighted, but you can use as freely as you want so long as you don’t sell it for profit. Learning should be fun and free after all!

              Cheers
              Miss Raja

                  Hi,

Just to share, as one of the guides to buy assessment bks, look out for author who have PGDE or editor with such qualification. Although not 100% guarantee will purchase a very good assessment bk but it’s a criterion to consider.

                  cheers

For comprehension, it's best to use passages in past year papers. They are more 'real' compared to assessment books.

You can trust our dearest Champion here to upload pics for easy reference 😉 Get my boy to practise his cloze published by Ace. You can find it at Big Bookshop. It's very plain and cover is flimsy.

so sad, Big Bookshop in Clementi closed down.

:yikes: got another one sprouting up nearby? So sad. It has some interesting and unique buys. Although popular is better, I would occasionally dropped by big book shop clementi when I am looking for less run out of the mill stuff.
