Solving this by Gap and Diff:

      Gap : 80 – 10 =70
      Diff : 10-8=2
      No. of pupils --> 70/2 =35
      Using case 1,
No. of sweets Mrs Ang has --> (35x10)+10=360sticks (ans)

      Michaelia0816:
Charsen or Tianzhu, Mrs Ang has a packet of ice cream sticks for her activity sticks for an activity in her Art lesson. If she gives each pupil 10 ice cream sticks, she will have 10 ice cream sticks left. If she gives each pupil 8 ice- cream sticks, she will have 80 ice cream sticks left. How many ice cream sticks are there in the packet?

        And this question too,

Patrick, Devi and Jiamin each have the same number of beads. How many beads must Devi give to Patrick and Jiamin so that Patrick has 20 beads more than Devi and Jiamin has 4 fewer beads than Patrick?
        Hi

I did a quick check using MD.

Try it out first, the answer is 12.

        Best wishes

              Please help.

Nicole received more money than Tricia from their mother. 40% of Tricia's money is $16 less than 25% of Nicole's money. If Nicole gives 35% of her money to Tricia, Nicole will have $12 less than Tricia.

              A. How much money does Tricia has?
              B. How many per cent more money does Nicole has than Tricia at first?
Round off your answers to the nearest 2 decimal places.

              Thanks.
              Hi

A neat way is to use MD.

I am rushing so I’ll work with units.

              40% of Tricia's money ------- 20 units

              100% of Tricia's money ------- 50 units

              25% of Nicole's money ------- 20 units + 16

              100% of Nicole's money ------- 80 units + 64

If Nicole gives 35% of her money to Tricia, Nicole will have $12 less than Tricia.

              35% of Nicole's money ------- 28 units + 22.4

              After the transfer

              Nicole -------- 52 units + 41.6

              Tricia -------- 78 units + 22.4

              78 units + 22.4 -------- 52 units + 41.6 + 12

              26 units -------- 31.2

              1 unit ------- 1.2

              Tricia ------- 50 units -------- 60

              Nicole -------- 80 units + 64 --------- 160

I’ll leave it to you to continue with the percentage increase in (b)

              Best wishes

Q1.Daniel had 40% more stickers than Brandon. Daniel and Brandon each gave 20%of their stickers to Calvin. As a result ,Calvin stickers increased by 80%. If Daniel has 20 more stickers than Calvin in the end, how many stickers did Brandon have at first?

Q2.At a confererence made up of speakers and participants , there were 20% more men than women. The ratio of male speakers to female speakers was 8:5. There was an equal number of male and female participants.
A)Find the ratio of male speakers to male participants at the conference.
B)Halfway,40 male participants left the conference and another 60 female participants joined the conference. In the end, there was 3/4 as many male participants as female participants remaining behind. How many speakers were there at the conference?
                Hi,
                Daniel : Bradon
                140 100

                20% of Daniel-140x20%=28
                20% of Bradon-100x20%=20%
                80% of Calvin - 28+20=48
                180% of Calvin - (48/80)x180%=108
Daniel in the end - 140-28=112
                Difference in Units- 112-108=4U
                4U=20
                1U=5
                Brandon at first - 5x100=500(ANS)

Hi! Tianzhu, pls check, I think it should be $26.10 instead!
                      Hi girl

Let's go through with the answers.

First, start with your answer of 26.10.

We need to take away 5.40 (6*0.9) for the savings during the first 6 days.

                      26.1 – 5.4 ------20.7

                      Number of days ------ 20.7/0.9 ------23

In 23 days, Minah saves 23*1.1 or 25.30

So, we can see that when Rahman saved 26.10, Minah had 25.30.This does not satisfy the condition in the question.

Now let’s us consider 50.40. I’ll take you through flow of events, so the steps will be longer as compared to my earlier solution.

                      In 6 days, Rahman saves 6*0.9 ------ 5.40

First, Minah needs to catch up with Rahman

Number of days to Minah needed to catch up with Rahman ------ 5.4/0.2 -------- 27

Minah saves 20 cents more than Rahman each day. From this point, she needs 4.60/0.2 or another 23 days to have $4.60 more than Rahman.

                      23 + 27 ------ 50

                      In 50 days, Minah saves 50*1.1 -------- 55

                      In 50 days, Rahman saves 50*0.9 -------- 45

Remember, Rahman has a head start of 5.4

                      45 + 5.4 ------ 50.4

                      55 – 50.4 ------- 4.60

This satisfies the condition given in the question.

                      Best wishes

                        Hello tianzhu,

Patrick, Devi and Jiamin each have the same number of beads. How many beads must Devi give to Patrick and Jiamin so that Patrick has 20 beads more than Devi and Jiamin has 4 fewer beads than Patrick?

Can you please show how you arrived at the answer 12? Did Devi give a total of 12 marbles to Patrick and Jiamin?

                        TIA.
