Hi hi! Son is in Mee Toh P1 this year…and it never occurred to me to look for a support group online lol…was always trying to figure out why they were not recruiting for PSG in school…a little duh. Glad I found this group:)

He started out well. Was initially worried about chinese, so in Dec, I enrolled him in a short hanyupiyin course before he started P1 - so he's coping ok. Had my doubts about only teaching in pinyin, but found that it makes chinese learning much less intimidating, and the chinese characters do get absorbed!

maths is manageable still - though parents of older kids in other schools have told me it gets tougher. for now, we are still ok.

Lots of show and tell for both english and chinese. I personally like it, but must ensure time is spent rehearsing and (in term 3) writing with the child.

Do p1 require to attend di zhi GUI or dharma class?

Hi Charmaine

dizigui is the character education programme, so part of the day to day curriculum. Dharma class - there is an optional class offered on weekends. Apart from that, no dharma class per se, but there are assembly talks.
