This will never end! no matter what is being done, there will always be parties who are affected and thus upset. We got rid og PR so now it is SC against SC? Even if we get rid of Phase 2A (an assumption, not that I support this), people who can afford it will be able to buy property. I see no difference. Perhaps we should shut down \"branded\" schools\" and have onlysame schools. Then perhaps all these issues will be solved.

It's that time of the year again πŸ™‚

And you'll start hearing all the :frustrated: 😒 :stompfeet:  πŸ˜‰

LOL... and the funny thing is, most parents new to Singapore education think P1 registration is the worst part of Primary school education. It's like - when I get my kid into the most popular school, my kid will have it made.

The fact is, the more popular the school, the more results-oriented it is likely to be, the more tuition/enrichment we have to send our kids, and the more we will complain about our kids being \"pushed\" by the garmen to study till they turn blue.

For the record, the reason why KiasuParents.com post and track the P1 Registration statistics is to let people know why they should avoid the most popular schools - they are next to impossible to get in if you have no affiliations, and even if you did manage to do so, it will be 6 years of tears, sleepness nights, and disillusion if your child does not perform up to your expectations.

So instead of spending time lamenting the inadequacies and unfairness of the system, send your child to the most suitable school nearest to you, based on your assessment of how you think your child will fare in the school. If you think your child is already an overachiever, and you are prepared to provide lots of academic support as a parent for your child, go ahead and fight tooth and nail to get into the popular schools. Otherwise, any other school will do as well, so you should just choose the one nearest to you that your child can excel in. Spend your energy on preparing your child for his new environment.

Another way to think about this: how would you feel if you work your heart out for a company and yet you are always rated amongst the bottom percentile during annual appraisals? If it is not because of the lack of quality and effort you put in, then it must be because the rest of your colleagues are really supermen and women. After the 3rd year, you will give up trying and decide that you should be what the company always rate you as: a loser. That's when the vicious cycle sets in.

Don't do it to your kids. The most important quality as a student is confidence about one's ability. Put your kid in the environment that maximises their chance of excelling at their level!

may be, just may be, when their abolish the phase 1 priority, then people will be satisfied to be assured with a place to be within 1 km

but it may still not be enough. plant a 2,000-unit condo development within 1 km of the school and if every 5 household has a pri 1 child, it is still no guarantee, if everyone in singapore just think of ai tong only

No NYPS, RGPS, CHS, Tao Nan etc etc…all renamed as ABC Primary School. Is this possible?
