buds:
Hi buds,Hi again. Oh? Your DD likes balls?
I've met up a very small almost 2yr old boy who came to our reading table at the library and pointed to us all the different balls in one of our books.
I flipped, then he pointed to a picture and said, \"Rugby ball.\"
I flipped again. Then he pointed to a picture and said, \"Basketball.\"
Then, he continued with, \"Baseball.\" And a few other balls in the book that i cannot recall now. But for a small boy.. Knowing the correct names of THAT many balls.... i find it quite impressive.
I suddenly remembered this boy after you shared your DD likes balls.
haha....is it. My girl like tomboy, she likes balls but she dont know different type of ball but she knows what is basketball, whenever she sees basketball she will use her hand pretend as she is playing the ball, thanks to the Hi 5, haha....
dont know when she will start ask me to read her a story book, i would be very happy when the days come. I am thinking sending her to spech and drama class to get her more interested in story books. Any advice on this?

Hey, DAISO outlets sells different kinds of balls at $2 one pack. I think there are three different balls in a pack. Give her the real thing to play with and see whether it might interest her to match the variety of balls to the pages in the books! Speech and drama will be more on honing her social skills and stimulate her speech ability. Not so much in reading training but it may interest her to pick up books as the trainers are usually very animated when sharing stories to their students. A lot of drama..
I like. You can go for a trial class if you're interested. Try to find out more about their lessons to gather more details to ensure that is the kinda programme you want for your child and the skills that you are hoping she would pick up from attending regularly.

Hi hquek,
Did you only order the 15 books set? Did you use borderlinx UK options to ship? I m keen to buy, but not sure which option to choose. S$70 is including shipping & books right?hquek:
Just got my order from bookpeople. The books are in good condition - but the box cover (for Roald dahl set) were a bit damaged. Anyway, after postage, the cost of the Roadl Dahl 15 book set is about S$70 - still very worth it despite the shipping hiccups.

Hi i3mum, I ordered quite a lot of other booksets as well. And I used vpost - at that time, borderlinx wasn't in UK yet. This is price after subdividing all the other books in the order.Hi hquek,

I find that they are quite chialat in packing - ie got airpockets here and there cos there were quite a few different booksets (and they didn't think can dismantle the plastic covering. Ended up with 2 packages cos they happily put 1 bookset into ONE box...maybe you can try put in instructions for them to consolidate. -

Ya, I agree using vpost was a traumatic experience. had no clue what I was supposed to mail them and all. Anyway, it's water under bridge liao.
Lucky it worked out well - though I figure I could have saved more. -
i3mum,
Checkout the Roald Dahl 15 books box set at amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Roald-Dahl-Book-Box-Set/dp/0140926526/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259140224&sr=8-1
The price inclusive of direct shipping to Singapore is USD 37.63. It is available in Mar 2010 but you can pre-order now.
But I think not all Roald Dahl books are good.
In my opinion, the good ones are :
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The enormous crocodile
The giraffe, the pelly and me
The Minpins
Matilda
The BFG
James and the Giant Peach
You can check http://www.amazon.com for reviews of each book. Amazon has 4 for 3 promotion.
I think reading all the above is more than enough already
Kids should read a wide variety of books by other authors. -
