All About Preparing For Primary One

This was in my pte email. Have cut and paste the info for interested parents of soon to be P1 kids:



Little O’Zone is organizing an informative talk on “Preparing Your Child For Primary 1.”

This talk will highlight all areas parents need to be aware of while preparing their child for Primary 1. In addition, parents need to be prepared themselves to handle any challenges their child might face while going through this new experience.



This talk is essential for parents of all pre-primary school children and will help them to prepare their child socially, emotionally, intellectually as well as physically. There will be a Q&A session following the talk, which will clarify any doubts or queries.

One thing I’m very concerned about is the fact that my boy will have a lot less time at home to play & interact with his siblings. I’m already beginning to miss having him around…

Hi jkcy,

I can understand how you feel about missing your boy

But look at it this way.
Your boy is entering a new chapter of his learning journey. He will be making new friends, learning new things etc
DO not worry about him having lesser time with his siblings. They will do just fine even though they may not have more time as compared to the past.
My two children are even closer after my younger one goes to P1 this year

Hi!

I've just looked at my DS's P1 books. Gosh the standard is quite high! :shock:

For Maths, they will have to learn the multiplication and division starting 2nd half of the year! DS still have trouble adding and substracting...

He is definately going to have big trouble with Chinese. As for English, he will actually run away when i ask him to do some reading! What is this 200 high frequency words? could someone forward me a link? thanks!

at the website listed, you can select the dolch list for kindergarten up to 'Grade 3'. a few words a day and voila...your boy can read in no time.

my boy is still a reluctant reader. he is very selective over books.
you have to know which genre of books your boy likes.
geronimo stilton books are great for starters.
