V True. You'll never know what will happen in the future.
Recently there's a lot of uproar as some schools has asked PVs to come up with proposals.
Who knows whether MOE may abolish PV system.
I have heard about popular schools asking \"potential PVs\" what they can contribute to the school (it's no longer the usual traffic warden, librarian thingy (which is still prevalent in the \"not as popular\" schools)). If this becomes the trend, again it promotes elitism as only the very rich and/or highly educated can contribute (eg owner of an enrichment centre may offer their programme FOC to the school etc)
On the other hand, I have also heard working-class parents complaining that this whole PV thingy benefits the rich (as usually it's the \"tai tai\"s or self-employed who have the time & flexibility to PV on a regular basis). Working-class parents can only PV on ad-hoc basis (eg helping out at swimming meets, carnivals etc) and not on a regular weekly basis which may not sit very well with the school if the school already has substantial support in ad-hoc assignments.
I guess we shouldn't be surprised if more changes were to be announced for next year. And apologies I digressed...but i guess it's an area of discussion \"somehow relevant\" (re p1 registration) to this thread .. now back to Bedok schools' discussion

Nothing wrong.. They (SC) did have priority within a phase. If they give it up, it's their choice.
SC over PR? Maybe MOE has to redefine this statement.
totally squeezing out PR and put them in, like, Phase 4 doesn't seems right, I feel. -
Anyone can highlight why CHIJ katong primary not so popular?I am staying in the East and this school which has a higher chance of selected even it is outside 2km, so I opt to register this school, unless I really very sway!
I actually has a back up plan where I enrolled under p2a2 for Fairfield and md dd has been accepted. However, it is very far from my place, from east to west. I still have not made up my mind. Can someone highlight which school is better, Fairfield or CHIJ katong.
Many thanks ! -

I think it'll be hard for anyone to comment unless they have kids in both schools. Will your child be taking the school bus? If so, you will have to check if school buses from Fairfield will pick up kids in the East. All the best to you on whichever school you decide to go with! Can someone highlight which school is better, Fairfield or CHIJ katong.

Sch bus nowadays not cheap… and seems that there is talk about raising fares… saying like they need to fetch workers, cannot cope etc… and then sch kids may need to go to sch early early…
So… parents who are concerned about costs, logistics, and welfare of kids… do plan carefully… -
Hi Chijoh2001,
I also did the same as you. The school staff advise me to have my hubby to stationed at the school that you registered earlier and yourself at the school under p2c. So you weigh your chance, if you think the chance good under p2c, call your hubby to withdraw then afterwhich u can register. Withdrawing no need show original ics, but registering you need originals. You can do this on 1st August, but make sure got sufficient time.
For myself, I still thinking which school to choose? -

If I register my child online at my preferred school, on the last day 1 Aug 2012 if I know the number within 1 km exceed the number of available seats for p2C, how do I withdraw and register at my next preferred choice if it can only be done onsite?

Actually, my mum is staying in Dover near Fairfield, but I do not have the intention to let my girl to stay over there. I will be the fetching her to school and then to work. After work, fetch her from my mum's place. Just by telling you, I already feel the hecticness! Haiz!
