KSP:
janet_lee88:
we spent US$680M on tuition in 2008, maybe by now could have cross the US$1B mark :yikes:

I have nothing against my tutors...in fact, I love them very much because they are the ones who EDUCATE my son.
Crossing the billion dollar mark is not surprising.
I spend $2K a month just for my son's tutors alone.

2k is like :yikes: to me.... can u share how u spend 2k/mth for 1 child?
i spend slightly less than half of yours....
OMG spend 2 K juz for 1 child in primary sch tuition ??
This is the highest spending which i have heard in KSP forum, or perhaps am a mountain tortise πŸ˜‰
Wonder how much will u spend for his sec sch tuition,
considering sec sch tuition is more costly than primary sch tuition,
moreover, sec sch subjects are even easier to fail or achieve low marks...

Do a quick break down n see janet’s tuition expenditure together with her current situation. This is not a long term tuition expenditure but one that was in view of the upcoming psle. Considering 40dollars++ an hour that tutors nowadays command, mulitply by 2 hours, by four subjects twice a week, can easily hit $2k. Bearing in mind that her son did not have much tuition before p5. If we add up those who started tuition since p1, will their cumulative costs differ much from janet’s $2k per month beginning this year?

So janet is the undercover millionaire here in KSP. No wonder no MOE trained T can meet her expectation - only one-to-one attention will do. :yikes:

Janet, you so atas one. So envy. I'm quite sure that the tutors love you [ :moneyflies: ] too.

I think Janet has been open in her various postings.

If you consider the scenario of a primary school kid going to TLL for all 3 subjects plus a couple of other enrichments, it easily can also hit near 2k?

tutormum:
The earliest DS3 comes home is 430pm which is once a week, the rest of the day is 6pm or even later when there's CCA. As he's taking 8 subjects for O level next year, the additional subject is scheduled after normal school hours, i.e. about an hour lunch before pm session. When he's home he just want to relax. :frustrated:

He's required to go back to school at least once a week during the long holidays for extra courses, training etc. He hates it cos he believes that sch holidays should mean holidays.
He's also serving in church every Saturday which entitles him CIP points. However, he's more than enough CIP points but still continue to serve as he likes it.
Next year, being O level year, he'll be required to attend night classes in school. :lightrod:
Don't mention the word \"tuition\" to him cos to him it's a dirty word. I'm worried how's he going to sit for his O level. :gloomy:
He's confident but I never see him studying at all. :slapshead: :slapshead: All I can do is πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™
that is worse than RI year 2's time table : tuesday dismisses at 13:50 and Friday at 12:30. those without optional merit cca literally goes home at 12:30

What I mean is highest spending on pri sch tuition Per Month and not cumulative.
If it is cumulative, then we have to work all the way down to nursery level lor,
Cal how much one pays for branded childcare which includes enrichment courses,
or external enrichment courses for prechoolers.....How to be comparative this way.....

I do understand that it is not a long term tuition expenditure,
But....but when a child goes to sec sch, there are more subj to cope with,
some 3 other totally new subjects, such as Lit, Geog and Hist besides the major 4.
Needless to say that sec sch syllabus are even harder to cope with or to score as compared to Pri sch syllabus.
For eg, we often heard parents saying that their kids could get an \" A \" for their PLSE Maths or CL/HCL
but failed or struggling in such subj in sec 1.
Hence, likely tuition still continue.....??

Also bear in mind that hrly pte tutor charges for sec subj could easily hit $60-$80 per hr.

Cant rely on tuition for EVERY subj......oops, i better get ready for πŸ¦† πŸ¦†

Dont the pupils need to stay bk for their core cca on friday's afternoon?
Or how many times per wk for core cca?
My gal never gets bk so early even she was in Yr 1.

My niece is in a normal sec school and her schedule is also rather punishing. It could be due to the CCAs that she took up.

Maybe ask the kids to take up low profile CCA but then would it be difficult to accumulate pts?
