the so-called \"market\" subsidy is no subsidy
HDB is supposed to be subsided housing for citizens.
market price move up and down and the \"subsidy\" is still the name
you are right, it is 'supposed' to be. but actually ? -

Single can buy HDB if they are > 35yo.
Yes, but only RESALE - competing with PRs. -

“居者有其屋“
it is the 'market' subsidy that has made it less affordable than before -

and only in certain housing estates
Errmmmm... If I am not wrong, the rule has been lifted and now all SC singles can buy from any estates and any flat type as long as they satisfy the income ceiling.concern2:

The reason why gahman has been finding all kind of excuses to delay drawing of CPF and its usage is because GIC has only been able to return 0.007% from the loan it took from CPF. How are they going to pay 2.5% annual return if their return is only 0.007%? Moreover, about half of the assets are illiquid which requires long time period to liquidate.
And that, is the dumbest thing to do, since CPF pays 2.5% interest or more. You have no experience in this matter, and you are wrong. There is already plenty of abuse of present schemes. There are people who feel that that since medisave is 'their money', that they will squander it as quickly as possible. This, is FACT.limlim:
If you need to choose between CPF or Cash, of coz pple will use CPF. But, between to spend or not to spend, I believe most pple wouldn't want to see doctor and take medicine unless they are really sick..
...maybe now you should see why.. -
So…maybe we need some figures to put thing in perspective instead of beating around the bush…
Whenever someone suggested a more inclusive education and healthcare system or more resources to take care of the less fortunate, we will hear corresponding fear of slipping down the welfare state slope. Is this really the case? How much is consider enough? As one minister retorted, is hawker centre enough? or restaurant?..
Whatever they want to argue. Hard cold numbers tell the stories. Singapore ranked second last in percentage of GDP spending on public healthcare and education. These are money sucked out from the productive citizens of singapore but stingy % has been spend back in improving the general life quality. That is the reason why our government has been able to run operational budget surplus. Because, they tax too much but spend too little in two prime critical areas on its citizens. Surely, arguing for more in these areas can’t be welfarism if there have been tax and surplus? It is not as if, we are taking loan for these social programmes like greece.
These budget surplus then goes directly into the blackhole government coffer which nobody is still able to figure out the actual amount? -
WHY need to sell the power station??
Is the govt so poor that they had to sell critical infrastructures? Rather sell power station than to dig into reserves? -
