I think your son's form teacher is wrong. In order to secure for a place to 5 care and charity is to base on the total score not on individual subject. The first top 80 total score in cohort will go to care and charity . First top total score student goes to care and second total score student goes to charity and continue in this pattern. As for total score 81 student onwards will go Faith , 82 will go to Grace, 83 will go to Love and so on in this pattern.

I heard from my son's form teacher during the meet parent day, in order to secure a place in 5 care or charity next year, all the 3 subjects Eng, Maths and Science must be at least score band 1.

The total score will be excluding subject Chi. She told me based on semester 1 results, in order to secure a place in 5 Care and Charity, the 3 subjects, Eng, Maths and Science must at least all band 1, that means above 85marks.

            Hi Evergreen Mummies,

Let’s not obsessed about "securing " a place for our children in Care and Charity. It is not important at all. Not like securing a place in the top secondary school or best varsity in Singapore. My child is in Charity and I can safely tell you I wish my child is not there. Care is best but even Faith will be better on the strength of the teacher.
We all want our kids to be in top classes as we assume that the best teachers will be assigned there but that is not always true, unfortunately.

I, for one, will prefer my child to be taught by a dedicated, experienced and good teacher, be it Love, Hope or Joy or whatever. It is only a "label".

            Just my two cents’ worth.

                Hi Green belt,

I seriously agree with you… my child is in Charity too… who cares wat class if it does not have a passionate form teacher… very sad! Supposed to be in a good class but not a good, kind and passionate teacher!

                    Hi Ocean and Mango,

Yes, very disappointed with the teacher. Do not know why she was chosen to teach this class as it is supposed to be one of the top classes. Will our children have her as their teacher again next year? Sigh…
My child complained of headaches as there is so much scolding everday. Not much teaching is being done. I really hope things will change.

                      Hi AgonyMum

If they go to an average class then they have a chance to get a new form teacher in next year.

Everyday full of screaming and shouting in the class I see the files and work no consistancy at all too! Not much homework and teacher always absent as well! I’m praying hard they wont get this teacher again next yr!
