      Hi ,

May I know at which level does Tanjong Katong offer higher Chinese. What is the criteria the child must meet to be offered higher chinese.
One last question, do your children have lots of homework?
      Thank you .

Hi, would like to share abt P1 as my son is in P1 this yr.

Like another mummy comments, there aren't much homework daily, but there is Chi & Eng (words) spelling every wk.
There are Chi & Eng 'show & tell' every sem also, if i remember correctly.
There are PTM every sem, which i find good as i get to know my son progress every 3 mth.
The FT of my son class is good also, during PTM she can give comments abt my son 'petty happening' in class, which mean she really pay attention to her students.
Another things is they had this school organiser book, i m not sure does every school has it?
It's a daily organiser, so students have to write down the daily homework, things to do/bring, n msg to parents from teacher if any.

Most importantly, my son enjoy his P1 very much, that's all that matter right? 😄

Hi, parents who are considering to put your kids in Tkps…let me share some insights of the school too.hope it helps…

My child is currently in P1 too… he is enjoying a lot in school… kids who excel well will usually have leadership roles during class. Eg, English group leader or Maths group leader… they have monthly or termly (can’t remember) Star pupil also…

School’s motto on leadership and character building are being practice in school which is good…every tue during assembly time… pupils get the chance to perform after teacher’s approval…so I find that it is a good exposure for the pupils… they had okto group to perform not long ago too…and various performance from outside…

School also has Speech & Drama as well as computer lesson as of P1…

Every school will have some misbehaving pupils so Tkps is the same… but so far lower pri is still manageable for the teachers, as far as I can see.

The kids in this school has no peer pressure from each other… and they are happier comparing to certain school…

Overall I’m quite happy about this school…

It will be quite disappointing for a parent if the child need to be drag to school everyday:-( so all parents choosing school, please choose wisely …choose accordingly to our child’s character then what school YOU want your child to be in…distance is really important too… no point sending a child to a far away famous school and everyday got to wake up so early (for morning session school)… the poor child is going to be so tired… after that comes P3 where cca comes in thats another transportation headache…

I had a hard time deciding what school to choose last yr so I can understand all parents feeling now…

Hope I had help any parents in any way 🙂 Good luck

                    Hi,

My son is born in 2007 and will register for P1 next year. We are returning Singaporeans from overseas, will be back home this year end.

He has been attending international schools, mostly playing and interacting and not even a single sheet of homework! He’s a very expressive and active boy. My choice for an ideal primary school is one which has less homework, less stress from teachers & peers, multi-cultural environments, students with different nationalities and with a wide variety of CCAs. Can anyone advise me is TKPS a wise choice based on my criteria? Thanks lots!

Ur description of sch is many parents' ideal.
But sad to say, in singapore, imppossible to escape frm sch related stress. Itz just a matter of time. Maybe P1&2 can relax. But come P3,all sorts of streaming. Then psle, o levels, A levels...non stop.

Students are already grouped into different Chinese classes even by P3.

At the end of P4, the school will be going through another round of filtering as they prepare the students for P5/P6 Higher Chinese.

If I recall, students are expected to do well in the other subjects before they can take up HMT (MOE guidelines?)
