I am staying in Nee Soon South, near to Khatib MRT. Is it too far to send my dd to MCS. How long will the journey take if she takes a school bus. Thanks.

Parents who pick MCS believe in its holistic education and strong religious values and are willing to travel the distance for their kids to come here.

agree. there is education and there is education, and i'm big on holistic education. So, do not think that only pupils of elite schools can excel. We should groom our daughters not just academically but holistically be a all rounder. MCS is one such good schools.

Hi,
My DD1 is in MCS Pri 1 this year. We are staying in Woodlands, we drop her off at the Good Shephard Student Care within the sch compound every morning en route our way to work. We will pick her up after sch on our way home, if we do not arrive by 6.30pm, she will follow her student care friends back to student care to wait for us till 7pm.
So far so good for her as she eats to meals proper, she will get to eat her breakfast at home & lunch in student care. She also gets to do her homework and revision in her student care. I had checked out sch buses previously, they mentioned abt picking her up at abt 10.45am for my area but the bus will only reach the sch just before assembly time, meaning no time for lunch so we decided to place her in student care instead.
DD is in rhythmic gym and she is very passionate abt it
So far, we find the teachers in both the sch and her student care very responsive and they are concerned with the over all well being and development of the children.
Hope this helps

Hi Mummy Meow,
Thanks for your detailed feedback on MCS and its really helpful to me…i intend to reg my gal in MCS and with the same arrangement as you did. -
Just to share my thoughts about why Marymount Convent has a low P1 intake… Marymount Convent was my 1st choice for DD long before the time came for P1 registration. Especially since she’s currently in Marymount Kindergarten but the oncoming construction of the NS highway made me think again and also that Marymount Convent does not have an affiliated Secondary school.

I can’t understand how a construction of a viaduct will make so much difference. Look at Blackmore Road and Stevens Road. Aren’t they more disastrous too?
At the end of the day, it’s really what the parents want for their child/children. The children are simply too young to make that decision.
If affiliation is bothering you, then go for those which do have. My ds is in one of these. Does it make it easier to get into the default school of choice? Not necessarily so.
All the best in your school hunting. I’m sure you will live by that decision once made.
Happy to influence this if you are still keen on MCS. It’s a no-no to deflame school’s hard earned image though. -
Hi all,
Juz to share wif all 'potential' parents. Pls do not mistake tis as trying to woo u over to Marymount. Rather, as current parents wif gals blossoming in Marymount, we will like to share our thoughts wif u.
In Toa Payoh, there r more sought after sch like Pei Chun (for parents who r more academic driven) and CHIJ Toa Payoh (for parents who r probably more concerned wif affiliation). Pls note tat IM not saying all parents who enrolled in these sch r. Juz some basic reasoning for e low take up rate at Marymount. I have frenz who enrolled eir kids in Peichun cos ey like a more 'china' environment for eir kids.
My DD is currently in P2. I muz say if all Singapore sch r e same. IM proud cos Marymount had somehow exceeded our expectations of e sch. It was not our first choice consideration (we were considering OLCG but Marymount beats OLGC due to student care; there were no nearby student care at OLGC)but eventually made it to our first choice enrolled sch at Phase 2C.
So far, we have no regrets. E homework is manageable, e trs r responsive, e communication is great, e student care (although not e most fantastic environment but will b upgraded in 2 yrs time) trs were caring but strict (i love it), e emphasis on Arts & sports were juz great!!!
We juz attended eir biennial Arts Fest last Sat & it was awesome. :imcool: It juz goes to show how talented our kids can be if ey were only given e chance.
If u luv a holistic environment for yur gals, u will love it here!!! -
