I don't think the schools will go to the extent lah. Afterall, they're just 12 year old kids. The schools are also aware many parents are guiding their children on the schools to apply. Just that, there may be some kids who are really die-hard fan of certain schools or maybe dislike certain schools. So if the child was being \"force\", then the child may just reply honestly.
What I am afraid is sometime if a qn is asked indirectly to test if the kids like the dsa school and the kids take it objectively to answer, it may lead to misunderstanding that the kids do not feel for the school and end up no CO, but infact the kids like the school, then the interview is making things worst.yukilei:
Agree. DS's teacher told me that these interviewers are very experience. They'll be able to detect the sincerity of the child. & I believe most children are very honest.
Last year, there were some children who even told the interviewers : \"I apply this school because my parents want me to do so\". Not sure whether the chance will be affected by such answer. :scratchhead:
So parents, if your child do not really like or feel comfortable with the schools, maybe it's good not to \"force\" them to apply DSA for the school.

Agree that most of the schools know that probably the parents/kids have DSA to more than just 1 sch.

HCI asked DS : \"what is your next step if HCI didn't offer you?\"
DS replied that he would take up his 2nd choice - NUSH.
:slapshead: No matter what/how we prep, kids will tend to tell the truth
Well, I dunno if the answer will kill or help him.....maybe HCI will offer him if they dun want to take risk or they think anyway DS will not have any offer, can wait for his PSLE then decide :rotflmao: -

Oh, I think they'll offer him cos he said NUSH is his 2nd choice. That would mean HCI is his 1st!!!!

But why they can't give the kids CO straight away instead of WL... So troublesome and keep the parents and kids on suspend ..
Hi Vlim, a colleague's wife is a teacher in RGS and is one of the DSA selection panels, he said each sch has it's own procedure but kids were selected based on:
1. 80% and above of the pri sch results
2. top 20% of the GAT
3. others
if a child score very well in pri sch but didn't make it to be top 20% of the GAT, will not be selected for interview/second test. If a child has made it to the above 2 points, he/she must also done well for the subject that he/she applied for. COs given based on the above plus leadership quality, if one has the above but the GAT was between 75-79% will be given WL.[/quote]
This was last year's information. I am sure it's still valuable for many newbies. -
Anyone ds or dd received any shortlisted notification from Dunman High this week under academic domain ? Thanks.

Hi my DS applying DSA sportEssential:
Hi any ideal what question being asked during interview
There are 2 panel interviews and 2 situational tests. All were conducted on the same day. DS says that he was asked the following questions - which school did you apply for, why SJI, what do you aspire to be, do you think being a doctor of a scientist is more important, tell me about your family, can you describe your sister, do you help her in her homework...
What domain is your son applying for?
