MOE Relooking P1 registration - Too much priority to alumni

Actually I hate the process of alumni but when come to think about it you will value it. We can pass down to our future generation. Our children will not have to go through so much problem the next time when they want to register school for their children.


Yes, at this moment I am very upset with P2A system because it really left a few peanuts for P2B and P2C. Especially for us living within 1km to SCGS and ACSP.

You are right. How to help MOE to make everyone happy?

Very simple...just building another school within 1km of these few affected schools...then people cannot claim they stay so near yet cannot get into nearby schools.


Of course this will nebber happen coz moe cannot afford the nearby land in most cases :laugh:

They went along amid the laughter of all who met them till they came to Market Bridge, when the Donkey, getting one of his feet loose, kicked out and caused the Boy to drop his end of the pole. In the struggle the Donkey fell over the bridge, and his fore-feet being tied together he was drowned.

Try to please all and you will please none.

So MOE has a tough job.

you can't make everyone happy.

But we can suggest ways that is deemed to provide the best interest of the students.

Yes, correct. This year statistics doesn’t show clearly enough that few seats are left for phase 2B. ‘sleeping’ alumni are staying out of 1-2km from school n get the priority, there is another thread which a parent wrote that parent have forgotten to register their kid at phase 2a n the school took 2 seats from phase 2b to give to this forgotten parent. Let me ask you, if a child miss an exam, can the child take the exam at a later date? What is the moral education nowsaday?

Taken from another thread that the article is published in feb this year :Mountbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan, who chairs the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education, on Wednesday agreed that the phase prioritising alumni does not distinguish between parents who contribute to the school and those who are ‘sleeping members’ who merely joined the alumni association.

That is so wrong.. should let them join the rest and have a go at the ballot at P2B instead.. if there is one..

Let them join the 1~2km group..

they still have a chance and priority before P2C.

To just take out the seats for them is juz so wrong......................

My husband told me this same story many times whenever such things happened. Yes, it is tough but not impossible for MOE to solve the problem.
