        Jennifer:

        3. Then mummy says she surrenders since it is his body, not hers. If he does not want to take care of it himself, whatever happens to him is now none of mummy's concern.

        4. Then the child straightens his thoughts and decides to heed those advices (at least for a day).

        Does reverse psychology work???
I guess it is not so much on reverse psychology.
the kid is probably more concerned that mummy doesn't bother about him anymore..and that can be pretty scary when someone gives up on you.

Hmm... interesting. But has anyone had the reverse situation when your child applies reverse psychology back on yourself? I get it all the time... eg:

Him: (staring pensively at the ice cream parlour)
Me: You want an ice-cream issit?
Him: Er... I think I dowan lah. I had one last week. You said cannot eat too much otherwise I cough, right?

At this point, can any parent say no?

Why not? I would praise your child for his sensibility.

My gal does it quite often. She would say : Mummy said cannot eat chicken rice so often right? so I don’t want chicken rice today."

Then I will praise her and tell her that I am glad she remembers my words.

Maybe you are doing it wrong? 🙂 It works so well with my children that they are using it back on me 🙂
