JTS… took my maid to the embassy yesterday to sign the contract. She needs one when she makes her KTKLN in Indonesia. On the contract, among other things, it state the salary and no. of day-offs in a month. And it is stated that upon completion of the 2-yr contract, we must purchase her a return ticket for home leave; else compensated with the value of such ticket… blah blah blah…
My first maid, I gave her $20 - she spent it on frivolous things within a week! I also gave her off-day from first month onward - she was dressed in spaghetti straps and tights and my then 3-yr old claimed that "kakak so sexy because want to let the men see!!". And she asked for advance salary to "buy things". She sent her back to the agency after about a month.
My second (current) maid, I did the same thing. She bought a phone card to call back home. And then, she didn’t want to go out because "no money"… and when she did, she wore long sleeves and long pants. I let her go home for 17 days last hari raya (by then only worked >1 year), and coming one, 1.5 weeks. I withheld her salary in case she doesn’t come back, and she doesn’t ask for salary advance. So, like I say, not the smartest or the most hardworking, definitely the slowest worker… but otherwise I take that for someone I have to live with, not that bad already… so I am keeping her till end of next year… then, see what happens. -
Stranffan, how much is the salary stated by the indo embassy? Is it like the Philip maid contract US400?

Info for Indo maids:
1. They must have valid passport, then can get work permit (WP) for 2 years or up to 1 month before their passport expires.
2. After you get the WP, you are advised to take them to the embassy in SG(opens 9-12pm; and 3-5pm) to sign the contract.
3. Minimum wage is $400. Does not say off-day is compulsory.
4. If they go back to Indo for holiday, they need to make the KTKLN card - and this can only be done in Indo. Docs required incl the agreement with their Indo Embassy stamp! They need to show this KTKLN card before they can pass their immigrations - so, no KTKLN = no come back to Singapore!
This is their government's way to track and protect the FDW. So, for example, if your maid's passport is still valid, and not going for home leave, looks like no need to go, right? So far, there is no mandate. But if the FDW renews the passport, part of the requirement is also to sign the contract.
Note: Info accurate at time of posting.

clarification: so if my two weeks old maid jus received her valid passport n wp, need to go to indo embassy sign contract. i need to bring her or her agent can do all tis?

Shebeautiful: You would notice that you do not have a contract with your maid, right? Because the only contract recognised (for Indo) is the contract signed at the embassy. I think you should, to protect your own interest. Also make the maid think not so easy to change employer? Not sure. Interesting to hear what the agency say? Since you must’ve paid them a fee, you should consult them first.
For signing the contract at embassy, the employer or any other adult residing at same address as the FDW can go. Agent cannot.
Maybe other forumers have better advice?
