2012 P1 Registration Exercise for 2013 In-Take

I think priority for home address within 1km should be abolished. There is too much complaints about people who \"cheat\" the system. Even housing agent oso in on the system. They tell me buy undeveloped condo, use address to register dc, then sell condo before it TOP. LIddat oso got chance to apply for Nanyang, ACS, SCGS and other atlas schools. No la, I say, dc oridi in atlas school, no nid.
Oops! Dun try try and pray pray with this method hor. Other P1 Mummies will CSI and call \"Matar\".

Not heated up. Just wanted to tell you the reality. You must also bear in mind the domino effect on the other schools if MOE really were to allocate the extra places back to P2B applicants.Well, well.... dun need to get too heat up..... anyway thank you for your reply....
Hope you can understand the feeling of the parents that is \"100%SC, 100 sessions of PV, stay within 1km and tat school is the only walking distance school available\"
http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php in your balloting! -
I think most of today's \"elite\" schools once started out as something average or not particularly noteworthy. As times change, perhaps parents' perceptions will change as well and schools that are considered average today may someday join the elite ranks....while others may lose their status among the best. With regard to alumni given preference, I see no issue with that. There seems to be intense pride and loyalty to one's school in general here...which I must admit is generally lacking where and when I grew up in the US (and the state school system I went to in New York was very highly rated). Of course, my primary years were in the 1970s!

i those who think Alumni should be scrapped.. it's really a pity to see some children have to be at the pickup location so early in the morning and travel 30 km daily just to go to school and back. Just because the child parents are an alumni to a certain branded school and home is like 15 km away...Actually, What is wrong about this alumni system that you feel is unfair? How would abolishing it allow more clarity?
At every stage of registration, there will be unhappy and happy parents. It is hard to satisfy everyone.
distance should be priority after citizenship&siblings.. if schools are located really in those less populated areas, the instead of 1 km.. we can move the radius to 5km.. it's still less then 15 km! -

Agreed with more KS people to sound wake up calls.

agree !
MOE must make this crucial, important info available for parents online real time. Else very difficult to make decision, if dun know by distance breakdown how many are SC, or PRs. Can't get thru telephone lines (keep engaged) at second half of day, or staff don't entertain telephone enquiries din want to be disturbed.
info has to be online, real time made available.
everybody pls chip in your part to feedback to MOE.
if one person write in, impact is lesser compared to many of us writing in concurrently to appeal for readily available, crucial info.
The idea to give priority to SC 0-1km, 1-2km,2km abv and PR 0-1km, 1-2,2abv, is GOOD. But, the same OLD Primary School admission method is not twisted n used.
Why don't make full use of the days before the actual ballot day ? My Suggestion :
Day 1 priorty for SC-0-1
Day 2 priorty for SC-0-1, SC-1-2,
Day 3 priorty for SC-0-1, SC-1-2, SC-2abv,
Day 4 priorty for SC-0-1, SC-1-2, SC-2abv, PR-0-1
Day 5 priorty for SC-0-1, SC-1-2, SC-2abv, PR-0-1, PR-1-2
Day 6 priorty for SC-0-1, SC-1-2, SC-2abv, PR-0-1, PR-1-2, PR-2abv
and a) applicants are given confirmed seat at the end of every day if all registered number in 2C (day 1 to 6) is less than 2C vacancy .
b) if registered number is more than 2C vacancy, then ballot is needed at Day 7 or Aug 7.
c) Sincere hoppers can always hop around from previous stages 2A,2B,2C as long as they know the availability (2C vacancy MINUS all registered number).
I think 'kiasuNewBie (starsecure)' words in Page 242 is well written. Guessed that MOE already have 4 alarm clocks for the wake up call, perhaps, they would need another alarm clock. -

I think mindset should be changed that only branded schools have alumni! Neighbourhood schools have that too. If distance is a priority, I am afraid these so called branded schools will be taken over by the rich and wealthy who can easily afford accomodation right next to it.i those who think Alumni should be scrapped.. it's really a pity to see some children have to be at the pickup location so early in the morning and travel 30 km daily just to go to school and back.
