Which new school is so popular? The new school I know in Seng Kang has 200+ seats but at the last day of Phase 2C, only 100+ seats taken up and still have 100+ seats for Phase 2C supplementary. I actually advised one parent living nearby to go for the new school instead for its proximity and also the new resources that it has which can benefit the child.
The two new schools in Jurong West are balloting.

Agree that these loopholes should be fixed..

I support the distance priority scheme. But these loopholes are creating unfairness.. Just a little more diligence and the system would be more robust.

They don't have to check it immediately if manpower is a concern. Just keep on record and conduct random audits..

        It is so difficult?

        teddy:
Some of these loopholes can be easily tightened.
Eg: When registering for P1, instead of looking at IC address only which people exploiting because so easy to change IC address:
        1) ask them parents to produce utility bills for past 6 mont in own names. & mandate need to stay for 6 month before eligible for distance based priority. If not own names need to thoroughly investigate them.
        2) Ask them parents to declare number of family members & have how many maids.
        3) ask them to declare size of their residential properties, how many rooms, own or rent, if rent when expire etc.
You will find there are many fishy things, Like a family of 6 including maids can live in 2 bedroom propertie or utility usage too low or too inconsistent (if they try to fake more usage) or rental expire soon after P1 registration closed etc.

Thanks, this is interesting to note, it seems supply is still not enough in that area, good to understand the demographics there. In Seng Kang, they are having difficulty filling the seats for the new school.

Do you know if the new schools have big intake of 200+ students?

Yes. At phase 2C, Frontier is having 258 fighting for 214 seats and Westwood is having 267 fighting for 240 seats. Very likely, they are even balloting at within 1 km. Within the same 1km radius, there are two other schools, west grove and jurong west, balloting too.

The demographics are indeed very different in Jurong West.

The two new schools in Jurong West are balloting.

              The two new schools are:-
              1) Frontier Primary -- at Jurong West Street 61
              2) Westwood Primary -- at Jurong West Street 74

Indeed, new school new resources and new facilities šŸ˜„ What I can analyse (JMHO), Frontier takes the load off Jurong West Primary and Westwood Primary takes the load off West Grove Primary.

Both Frontier and Jurong West Primary are located at JW Street 61 and within 1km from both schools there are many HDB flats surrounding them.

Same goes to Westwood and West Grove Primary - Located at Street 74 and 72 respectively, also surrounded with many school-going children staying within 1km.

No balloting at all and still have 71 seats left.

Ah...so there are indeed enough schools, i.e. those who fail the balloting can all fit into Pioneer Primary School. Now people are fighting for new facilities in the new schools. Gosh...the govt really did their sums to the dot.....I calculated those who would not get a seat in the new schools will come up to 71 kids and Pioneer have exactly 71 seats left......so uncannily accurate!! :yikes:
