My daughter is in GEP, and has just been accepted by NUS High.

She aspires to be a brilliant surgeon (just have not decided what she wants to specialise in). And wants to aim for the almost unattainable: entry into Harvard Medical School.

She wonders whether NUS High or RGS would be right for her. :scratchhead:

My honest observation: she is very bright, but only motivated to do well for subjects that she is interested in. her strength is in English and Mathematics, and has great potential to excel in Science. She is also very active and with a wide range of interest.

I wonder if sending to RGS for a more well-rounded education will more suitable for her as she will be able to develop in all areas. Or to NUS High which is very strong in Mathematics and Science but weak in languages, so that she can focus her energy to the two areas.

      Sigh. 😓

      Any advice is welcome! :please:

Oops ! just saw your posting here again. just share some thots in NUSH thread.

Is your girl from RGPS /another GEP school ? My DD has no problem in deciding what she wants. Then again it depends on the individual preference really.

NUSH is not just entirely about Maths n Science. The Languages/ Humanities/Music and Art are also equally importance if you examine their curriculum carefully. The respective NUSH Maths/Science and the Language/Humanities , Music and art depts all get direct resources and support from NUS not forgetting also their research and academic alliance from A*Star, DSTA etc.

There are past NUSH graduates who pursue non-science areas like Law, Accountancy, Economics and other areas like Music, art etc. NUSH have graduates who are PSC Scholars, A*STar, DSTA Scholars and even scholar in urban redevelopment.

Based on her strength (of Maths, English ) and her passion of what she want to do, IMHO, a academically challenging and stimulating environment, an accelerated learning environment (without the \"O\" and \"A\" level constraints) would make NUSH a better choice. Just MHO.

Dear matadorepy, she is from RGPS GEP. So she is definitely keen to enter RGS but after going for the NUS High preview, she told me she will seriously consider NUS High as well.

Both are great schools, so we just want to find one that fits her better.
