Congrats! and welcome to the club!
ps:
I guess you are trying to network with parents whose children are going to be in P1 next year for peer support. This thread is usually rather quiet, so even though I am not your target audience since my boy is already in P3 in ZDPS, I thought I would just reply you anyway
If you have questions about the school, I would be most happy to help!

Thank you Kiasimi.
Yes, this thread is not very active, letβs share here often and slowly people will join.
Itβs good that you have a kid in P3, hope you will guide me through the initial years.
I have been in the school as a parent volunteer for the last one year, I like the school in all ways. Hope my son enjoys being there. -

Me too! I love the school and the programmes they offer.
It is not an academically-focused school nor one particularly strong in sports/ CCA, but I think kids there are generally well-taken care of and the school constantly organises workshops / talks for the parents to understand how to better manage their children's studies / emotional well-being.
Some of the teachers who taught my elder and younger sons are really good! E.g. Mr Musa, Ms Yeo etc.
If your child is interested in music and has not taken up violin yet, I also recommend you to sign up for the violin lessons which are held weekly on Friday afternoons.
The school also provides swimming lessons in P3 for all students and they have weekly PE lessons on Fridays that requires every child to play a sport (e.g. soccer, basketball, floorball etc) which my younger son really enjoys. -

All the best in your application next year!

hi mummy of 2
Great to hear that! ZDPS is going single-session from next year, so big brother can help look out for his little sister when she enrolls
Which P1 class is yr DS in?

I apologise if my post sounds critical of the school. Academically, the school has not been doing great. This has been the case for the years that my kids have been there. A group of parents have written to the school to voice our concerns about its academic performance and had meetings with the former principal, v principal and HODs.Hi,
I'm thinking of registering my DD in ZD. Would like to get some feedback from parents with children in the school on the standards and holistic approach adapt by the school.
I heard that Zhangde has a new Principle from Queenstown Primary. Any changes made so far?
TIA !
So far, there are some changes like identifying higher ability students and challenging them a little more. They use higher order textbooks like for maths and science.
The new principal said she is aware of the series of meetings we had with the former principal and she would be looking to change things, but needs more time. But I have yet to see any significant changes.
As for teachers, I think it depends on luck who you get. My DS teacher is very good and hard working and we truly appreciate her effort, especially it is PSLE year. But, I feel my DD teacher is rather slack and I hardly see much homework given.
I think there are things that they can do better to help students in CCA and maths Olympiad training so that they stand a better chance when the kids apply for Direct School Admission when they reach P6. -
