Dunman High School (Junior High)

Augmum:
Or more vacancies were set aside for PRC/Asean scholars, thus leaving a smaller capacity for DSA & S1 posting? Just a speculation. :siam:
Ya, half of the capacity is reserved for DSA , and the other half for S1 postings.Fat Mama:
I heard from classmate's mother that DHS is a govt school so limited DSA academics vacancies unlike NYGH is independent school which they can decide to award how many DSA vacancies.
Not sure if it is true.
My speculation is that ....could it be more vacancies are allocated for sports, PA rather than academics,
thus more stringent via academics ? :scratchhead: -

Hi Augmum,
Hi FatmamaFat Mama:
Hi Augmum,
Yes, I hv a dd in P6 and she applied DSA via academics. She is very keen to join the DHS family but she still went to NYGH interview for the experience.
Some of her classmates like her applied both to DHS and NYGH were shortlisted for NYGH but not for DHS despite using the same GAT test results. Quite puzzling.
A question came to my mind.....
So if yr gal is offered CO from both NYGH N DHS, which will she choose ??Same as her kor kor?
What if , ( if lah) NYGH accepted her and not DHS,
will she accept the CO ? Or will she wanna to wait for her PSLE results for S1 posting ?
DD is very sure she wants to go to DHS.
If NYGH CO, DHS WL then we will appeal for CO. If cant get then PSLE results lor. We are quite confident she will make it to DHS with PSLE results if nothing goes wrong. :xedfingers: -
Augmum:
thanks for yr sharing.... Applications to both schs also based on academics ?
DD's classmates applied to both under academics.
I also observed the same thing and find it puzzling too! I was expecting one of dd's classmate, who was shortlisted for NYGH to go DHS with her on Sat, but was surprised she was not shortlisted by DHS.whitety:

U're right, if unsuccessful via dsa, think she shd be as bright as her kor kor,
be able to make it with her psle results, not too worry..... -

Hi!
I am a student from Dunman High and I just want to add on that I am very proud to be a student of Dunman High and the teachers in my school are very dedicated to what they are doing and when I was underperforming last year, my teachers gave me additional consultation (they still do when you ask
) and my grades improved!
I am really heartened by the fact that your daughter wants to come to dunman high! Dunman High emphasises strongly on moral values and has given me (and still giving) a very fulfilling education despite the studies being a little stressful
Hope that she gets in and if she doesn't, she can always appeal if her score is comparatively close to the cut-off
All the best for her in her psle and her admission into DHS! I look forward to seeing her around as my junior next year!!
Cheers,
A proud Dunmanian -
Hi,
Advice needed. Theres a JHSC Recruitment Drive for yr 1 and 2. I am a yr one and I am interested in applying for Student Council. But I am currently taking third language and my CCA is Symphonic Band. I cant really cope well(that means I still can cope but quite hard) in both my studies and CCA. This is when I get home usually: Monday:8pm, Tuesday:6.30pm, Wednesday:3pm(depends cuz i try to squeeze many βonly-one-day-eventβ on Wed), Thursday: 8.30pm, Friday:8pm. This is the time when sch ends for me: Mon-6.30pm, Tues-5pm(due to CCA, but it is not compulsory), Wed-1.45pm, Thurs-Third language, Fri-6.30pm. I usually reach cuz I take sch bus to sch daily. I am usually quite free on weekends as I do not have any tuitions. My only problem is I always(i dunno why) slack when I reach home and chiong all homework late in the night(like after dinner) and I will still whatsapp my friends. I think thats why I always sleep quite late in the night and result in the next day have to sleep when I reach home. I really want to be a SC and serve the school and pupils and it is my dream to be one. I will improve on my time management and will try my best to cope with my studies.(BTW my GPA is between 3.2 to 3.4, dont wanna say, sorry!) But I still need some advices in this as my parents say they will respect my decision. Thank you! -

Feel free to post yr sharing here
Btw, which yr are u in now ?
My gal share the same sentiments as u abt DHS teachers,
majority of them are highly dedicated to their jobs and serious in teachings,
hmm.....of coz there are few exceptional ones whom she has encountered
she simply loves DHS the very first day when she stepped in during the openhouse 2009..... :celebrate: -

Err....I am in no position to advise u abt whether to join as SC or not,
Juz suggest a few pointers....
I can see that u have a tight timetable.
Also would like to let u know that yr1 in DHS is already considered as \" honeymoon period\"
U will have to expect and prepared for an even busier yr when u go to yr 2,
so ask yrself how u wanna to improve yr time management then .....
Btw, it is rather common for dunmanians to sleep late....and they are rather sleepy the next morning,
some of them juz rest their heads in class during lessons...... :faint:
Or perhaps talk to yr FT or Co- form abt it and seek their opinions.....what u think ??
