      Thanks so much hoylj!

So in your opinion, is going for CCA at p1 too much time spent in sch (cos Im working too already struggling for time with her k2 home work and spellings already!)? Not forgetting she may have extra enrichment outside MCS hours too.

I’m tying to plan her schedule so she has space and time to let loose too. But I knw she will like the extra CCAs. Dillema. 😕

Not easy answer as it depends on the individual. My kid is usually tired out on gym days since it starts about 930 am. So doing homework after she gets back from school on those days can be tough. But she seems to be having fun, so we let it be.

            hoylj:

Just some other info, if you are interested: Commendation letter for DSA will only be given for those who have been in the school team from P4-P6 with at least 90% of attendance (or 80% I cannot remember). There are obviously some schools which excel in gym (artistic: SCGS, MGS; rhythmic: St Nick, RGS, CHIJ, St Marg).

If you do trace back a few pages through this forum, you will see more responses from the various parents on this.

            Happy National Day! :rahrah:
Thanks. Ah DSA, that is good to know. Sorry I suaku, school holidays also got practice I presume when it is competition season?

Hello all, how’s your national day celebrations going on so far - clad in national colours yet?

Hi emmanuel, ya, it was initially quite a bit demanding for dd. She started in P1 after selected for RG. But she was determined to make up the ‘lost’ time by staying up later to finish her work. We are still proud of her doing this. Dd also has music and ballet besides subject enrichments to attend…still managing.

Hi ohdaddy, yes, yes. All school hols have RG practices. Annual national school competition meet starts in March. So, June and Dec hols are crucial moments for intensified trainings. From P3 onwards, it’s thrice a week, 2 hours each during school days. School hols trainings are usually 3 hour block, thrice a week.

Generally, P1 girls will not have to attend any competition meet. P2 will be team doing freehand in end Mar or early April (depending on the calendar). P3 no competition as there are apparatus (rope, ball) involved. Competitions start from P4 right through to secondary schools and beyond.

I’m also thinking of starting a RG parent support team with likeminded parents who can cheer and support the girls. If you attend any of the national school competitions, St Nick, IJ and RGPS parents support groups really roar. Let me know if you are keen.

Enjoy the rest of the public holiday!

There is but not as specialised CCA. It is modular curriculum (similar to PAL prog in other pri sch).

Thanks Linlin and cantbearit2 for the info! (and sorry for the delayed thanks). Not sure why I suddenly got unsubscribed from the Forum... Was wondering why there have been no news these few days... 😓

BTW, should we start worrying and make arrangement for school bus? Or should we wait until at least end of Nov? I must admit super kan-cheong I am...

Finally received the confirmation letter for my daughter’s P1 registration next year. Looking forward to the orientation day in Nov.

It’ll be nice to meet all the parents in this forum on orientation day, and it will also give our daughters a chance to meet new friends / classmates.

Does any parents know what time are the CCA for P1, specifically in Art, Dancing or Netball.

                      Thanks.

                        Hi Hkkiasu

Yes, yes! Let's find a way to meet up during the orientation. We should set up a support group for 2013 P1's mommies. For starters, I heard some experienced mommies said exchanging mobile nos is important as they may come home with a wide variation of instructions/notes from teachers during their first few weeks. So mommies call one another up to verify/consult etc. So I think we definitely need to support one another, even in the long run. I hope to make new friends with all of you too! 🙂

Hi Hoylj, sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for the info. Will see how she manages too. She still loves to learn her ballet (which I had stopped some reasons) and thought of continuing her after we have ascertained her P1 status etc. So shall see...
