Honestly, I am shocked to hear of such a thing.

I am aware that the girls do watch their behaviour in public places, especially when clad in their school uniform.
Once, DD took a bus to Orchard Road with her classmates.
One of them laughed a little too boisterously and was gently nudged by her fellow classmate, reminding her to watch her behaviour.

Did you personally witness the girl spout obscenities in the public transport?
If so, as a parent of the school, why did you not approach the girl and advise her appropriately?
Of course, there's always black sheep in every school.
That's why I am surprised that you are ranting here instead of approaching the girl directly.
Sometimes, a gentle reminder may work wonders.

I get the feeling that they have been brain-washed to believe that they are the top girls in Singapore (which is true) and have this superiority complex, and so tend to be arrogant and self-centred.

Even though i agree with you on the first part, i don't think this is uncommon because well, as Snow Crystal said, there's no school in Singapore that is perfect, where everyone is a model student. Every school has their black sheep so i don't think that speculation made just on a few girls(that i'm sure we have all encountered in our lives)would quite make sense :sad:

Why should I slam the school? I'm just sharing what I know and I didn't start it. I was just saying that it's not something new. I am sure not all of them do that but I would say it's quite shocking that even a few of these girls use such language given their educational standing. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it comes from a neighborhood school.

If you think it's perfectly alright and acceptable to scold F word on Facebook, so be it, but I am certain I won't think it's a norm nor would I tolerate it if my kid does it.

Please read my post carefully. Even a 14 year old like Choco05 knows what I am saying is that there is no perfect school with all model students.

I hope we all come here to care and share not to pass hurtful remarks such as arrogant, brain washed, self centred etc about other schools... There are so many helpful forummers here with daughters in the school and the girls who shared selflessly in this thread are far from your descriptions.

There's no need to get all defensive lah. I'm sure there are well-behaved girls in the school as well. I didn't say all of them are like that. I was merely sharing what I know and observe. I have heard worse things from a colleague whose daughter went to RGS but given the defensive sentiment of the thread, I won't elaborate on that.


I've no doubt it's a top school. Let's hope that the girls there demonstrate exemplary behavior and grace as well as results. Peace to you too

There are bad eggs in every school. No school is perfect with 100% guai guai kids. Never seen a school like that in Singapore and not expecting any to be so

Indeed, well said. My DD friends come to our home frequently for projects, I can be very sure all are very polite and well brought up. They be a little loud, that's their characters, enjoying each other friendship and project teamwork. I don't have any issue with it. All the girls always greet us :grphug: , showed respect and even call \"grandma\" even though not related. That is the hallmark of RGS girls very polite and well brought up generally.. :grphug:

Why is there an urge for some parents to bash kids from certain schools? Isn’t it the task of all parents to bring up their children to become good and responsible adults? Are certain schools expected to do more of the moral education than other schools? I see some kids wear tee-shirts with statements like ‘I am the best’ or ‘Bow when you see me’. Can the kids from these schools wear such tee-shirts without being called arrogant?


Let kids be kids. Society is changing since our days. F-word is never acceptable but I see that it is being used by the youth of today. I hope my dd doesn’t resort to using such words - either in my presence or absence. But I would blame myself and not the school if she does so.

I observed that nowadays people like to associate behaviour of kids to the schools that they come from but at the end of the day, the kids' behaviour is not a reflection of which school they belong to, rather it points to the kinds of values that we parents instil in them. At the end of the day, our kids' behaviour is our (as parents) reponsibility.
