Hi all


Regarding Kids n Kids, I spoke to the principal n founder yesterday and told her many are asking for the school’s contact.

She said a lot of people have gone down to see the place and are at decision making stage and whilst she thanked me for passing out numbers, she asked me to stop for the moment because she said she feels bad if she needs to turn away people when the place is full.

I strongly recommend PCF (Joo Chiat). It’s a gem for easterners, located at Telok Kurau, off Still Road.


It’s the only PCF kindergarten with its own private landed playground. I like the small set-up, not too threatening for our little ones.

PCF’s low fees are a great plus. The school bus service is so child-friendly if you need it, the bus uncles have been with the School for over a decade.

The Chinese teacher Chen Laoshi is fantastic! My girl learnt to speak Mandarin by the end of her Nursery year, with her guidance and patience.

We left last year, but I’m aware the Chinese teacher is still there.

Hi pure purple, we went pass the t.kurau PCF before but never really put too much thoughts about it. But with the ever increasing preschool fees, me and my DH really need to look for viable alternatives!! :moneyflies: :moneyflies:

Can you enlighten me on how the usual PCF classes are conducted? I'm concerned about the amount of learning the kids received there. How many Chinese lessons do the kids get a day? Also, are there lessons which kindof \"brainwash\" the kids? ahem ahem... if you know what i mean... :censored:

Hi Pearlyshell. It uses a play-based curriculum, so the classroom had different learning corners. Pretend play toys, crafts n paints, blocks etc. The teachers teach letters and phonics. There was writing at N2. I can't remember how many chinese lessons there were, sorry. But i remember chinese weekend homework. It was regular but not overwhelming. The teacher made learning the language and chinese culture enjoyable. Essentially, these are very caring, gentle and competent teachers. It was a very inclusive environment. I think when the child grow to like and trust their teachers, in a secured environment, they flourish.

They always had an auntie for tea time, sometimes she cooked healthy snacks, like red bean soup, or bee hoon. Sometimes, it was simpler, like bread with kaya. Milo too. Yummy!

They do sufficient outdoors, weather permitting. There were those lovely trikes and walk-cars. They even had a lovely garden then.

Nursery 2 is a 3-hr programme, whilst the K1/2 are 4 hours.

The end-of-year concert was a fantastic musical show, the MP was there. My child had one at Siglap CC concert hall. Theirs was the only school, so every child even the Nursery kids participated. It was very memorable for us. For Chinese New Year, they invited a lion dance troupe right into the school ground. Many parents were there too. Another unforgettable experience, cos the kids got up close with the dancing lions.

The only thing is that i wish the teachers had more rest time!

The classrooms were well cleaned by employed cleaners at the end of each school day, and the gardens were cleared over the weekend by a gardener.

I hope my information is still accuarate as we left 1year+ ago. Best to arrange for a visit. This is a very welcoming school.

Hi mummies


Since many of you were talking about kids and kids, I was very curious so went down to check them out. I must say I was not very impressed by their set up.

They are holed up in the corner of an international school (I think), they share their premises. There were only 2 rooms and it was very cramped. It felt very claustrophobic and they didn't seem to have an alternative exit; meaning the entrance and exit were via the same door?! What happens if there's a fire?! Scary!!

While their curriculum was quite impressive ( the kindy children were doing number bonds and other problem sums, they could also write long English conmpositions), I just didn't feel comfortable with the set up. Gave me a feeling that the kids were in an underground nazi camp. *shudder*

Just my two cents worth! I guess the environment plays a big part in deciding on a preschool...at least for me!!

Could any other mummies recommend more schools in the siglap vicinity? I just moved here so am checking out the schools for my kids! TIA! :))

Hi you can try Bethesda Katong Kindergarten. My kids are in there and they simply LOVE going to school. Something I hope they can sustain through the growing up years. The crave for learning is there. Go visit the school and find out more.

Just to inform you that it's a regular kindergarten not a childcare. Thus the kids go to school for 3 hours only. Morning and afternoon sessions.

Hi does anyone heard about the kindergarten at Mandrain Garden? How is it? Was comparing it with Kids n Kids. Any comments?
