different punishment for similar offence - why?

the person in charge of stomp was promptly sacked and SPH apologised profusely ....
Organisations are easy targets, it's not fashionable to defend them.
Someone posts a picture of an open train door, then suddenly, OMG, SMRT screw up again, TOC message board lights up.
Hearsay is hearsay, show me verification. -
Stark unfairness in sentences for similar offence is indeed very glaring in some examples.
Consider a man jailed for stealing $32 to buy food for his wheel chaired mother. But a rich man son was only fined and let off for stealing $13000.
Look at Breadtalk's George Quek... rammed his Porsche into police cars at a road block and arrested for drunk driving but got away with just a small fine when ordinary Singaporeans committing similar offences have all been jailed for months.

Singapore Idol contestant suffered serious head injuries after he was hit by a car last January.
Lee Koon Seng, 32, was fined $4,000 Friday for causing grievous hurt by negligent driving. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for all vehicles for three years.
According to court documents, Mr Janson Tay, 29, had been crossing Balestier Road to get back to his car with his friend, Mr Andrew Guy Anthony, at around 3.50am on Jan 12 last year.[/quote]And today's paper...

Listen to Shanmugam bash Sylvia in parliament over this today.
Easy, eloquent, logical argument that completely demolishes any allegation of wrong-doing on the AG’s part.
Logic over knee-jerk emotional politicking, always… -
You mean Shanmugan or Tharman?

Law Minister Shanmugam, thank you for the correction. You mean Shanmugan or Tharman?

Mr Shanmugam said: \"I am certainly casting no motive on Ms Lim. What I was saying - it would be helpful in the context of statements that Ms Lim and others have made in the past, that we can actually in this House debate issues, look at issues without having to inject politics into it.\"
Mr Shanmugam also cited six cases between 2004 and 2007, to show that the final result of Dr Wu's case was consistent with the verdict of the Court in those instances - where no jail term was imposed. -
I think the key is why a different charge is preferred for Woon. Did Min Shan address that?

i also interested in finding other cases where other people were jailed rather than fined, to show inconsistency

if don't have, ok. if have that means ms lim is right and shan is wrong.

No end to it hor? He brings up 6 cases in 2004-7, people ask he is doesn’t bring up more. Second guess everything law ministry or AGC does, so many amateur judges on the internet. I mean, AGC must justify to the public every single decision it makes? Explanation already given, people want Shanmugam to do his job or spend his life crafting public replies?

Ms Lim has the opportunity to raise any of those cases, if they existed. Great opportunity for WP to score political points, so why did they not do it? Cases are a matter of public record. My guess, there is nothing to find.

Why is there a witch hunt against Woffles? I mean, I have nothing for or against this guy, but just because he is rich and famous, he needs to be hounded and persecuted to the baying public's satisfaction?
