All About Life Without Maids

How do you all find time to iron? It takes up much of my weekend time. Any solution?
Other than Going for \"iron free\" clothes, I do my ironing when I am watching tv or when my child is doing his worksheets. Press it well, some can take up to two laundry runs before they need ironing again. -
I try to do it daily (squeeze in a 15-20 mins) anything more than that; i will start finding excuses to delay the ironing and it does snowballs! Then i will start regretting why I didn’t do it earlier. ( I also think it is like my school homework heh)
I can’t watch tv and iron at the same time heh for fear of burning my own hand and also I need to focus cos I have such lousy ironing skills.
But I find the type of iron makes a difference. I’m using the tefal steam iron sooo much faster! -
I’m using wondering what sort of storage u have for your kids toys and how often do u
Clean them? My kid’s toy is stacking up and all over the place. And on top of that, it does gets dusty. Using water to clean them is it sufficient? -
Dekora, buy those big storage boxes with covers from NTUC or GIANT and store all the toys inside. This will prevent dust from going in cos got cover. You can also tell your kids to keep their toys in the boxes after they had played, so to keep house tidy and the toys clean.

I plug my ears to my iPhone and listen to motivational talks when ironing. It makes me look forward to ironing session in the week. :imcool:

I have short shelves and cubby holes for my child to store his books and toys. We dedicated a corner as his play area and he knows that at the end of his play, he is to bring all his toys and books back to the play area.I'm using wondering what sort of storage u have for your kids toys and how often do u

I used to clean the toys, shelves and play mat once a week when he was an infant. These days, I mop the play mat once a week, dust the shelves once every month. Toys, I wash/wipe them once every two month or so.
There is not much dust actually. my child reads his books so often that his little hands would have clean the books and shelves! -
Anybody using a dishwasher? Any advice? My maid is leaving in 2 days time and I will not want to do any washing as I only get home around 8.30 in the night. Kids asleep by the time I finish cleaning up. Thanks in advance.

How many people do you have in the house? Or shall i say, how many dishes do you have at one go? If you have only one or two, and you turn on the dish washer, it's waste water. If you can get to 3 qtr loaded at least, not too bad. I know of people start the washing after 2 meals so that it is almost full load
Bare in mind not everything is dish-washable. So, if you are using a dish washer, make sure the utensils you used can be put into the dish washer, otherwise, you have to end up dirtying your hands -
Also, once you are used to it, dish washer is quite useful

aiyoh....that's why ask u try that Song fishery.BeContented:
Why sorry? As if it's your fault :rotflmao:
Hmm.. You got a point. Can't be \"fresh\" as in just fished from sea. But no, I disagree on the part that there is NO difference if one is to buy from any supermarket. If a person is very used to high grade salmon/cod/promfret, it is not difficult to taste the difference.
I had bought cod fillets from Local supermakrts before. Cannot make it.....
:moneyflies:
Salmon fillets still can. But not promfret and cod....
I also found those in supermarket cannot make it......then I tried this.....so far, I'm happy, mom also likes it and even MIL (who usually picks on what I buy) asked her other sons to buy.
PS : I not related
ok, ok, will check song fishery out.
Somehow, We are just never good enough for our mils, right? :scratchhead:[/quote]
Song fishery?? Can elaborate?
