      coralie:
For my girl's orientation last year, it was a few hours before her K2 graduation concert. So we ended up leaving after filling the registration and giro forms. For uniform n school books, we purchased on a separate day due to long, long queues. Some parents made their kids try on different sizes of the uniform :S

argghhh.. bad timing for you.. :slapshead:
so is it necessary for us to settle everything during orientation day or we can also purchase the school uniform/books on a separate day if it is too crowded on orientation day?

Yup, bad timing as the concert was at NUS concert hall.
They will provide you with a list on the days to purchase uniforms and books. So you don't have to buy them on orientation day. Bring cash πŸ˜„
But if your child is taking school bus, best to follow up with the operators on orientation day.

When u turn up at the school for orientation, you will be lead to the school hall. Your child will go to the classrooms to do worksheet. After the school hall talks, you will go to the classrooms to fill up the MOE registration forms, giro forms etc. After you are done with the forms, can then proceed to buy school books & uniforms.

            Hi to all,

My son will be going P1 in Compassvale Primary School as well. One thing to check, during orientation day, do the school get our kids to do some \"tests\"? :scratchhead:

My girl said just worksheet with colouring. Don't think its a test. Just something to occupy them while the parents conduct official biz πŸ˜„ The teachers will take the time to bring them around the school to show them where's the classroom, library, washrooms etc.

My girl was told to bring her maths 1B part 2 workbook to school this week. Looks like they will finish the maths syllabus by term 4?

She went thru a 3-lesson selection trial for Chinese Dance CCA for the past 1 month and made it in. Read from the newsletter that the CCA won Gold for this year’s SYF. I don’t think that their selection process is stringent as my girl has no prior knowledge of dance. Most likely, it is for the students to see if they like the CCA and to replace the outgoing P6 students. Been encouraging her to take up the CCA as a way to expend her energy. If not, she will be home in the morning playing the iPad or watching TV.
