Me too. My DC recently bought these orangy coloured fish that looks quite cute but rather stoned looking and enjoy staying always at the bottom of the tank near the stones.
I am doubtful most of the sportsman that took part in Olympic did it for personal glory or national glory..

                  Althou for countries like China.. I would believe most did it for their country..

                  That's a bit of a cynical view limlim. Why not, most of them were never in with a chance for the monetary reward.

                  so why the need for the hefty rewards then..?

                  Maybe $1k or $10k already a lot.. They achieved personal glory and fame (and maybe commercial interests later?). The country already spend so much to put them there. Hasn't the country done enough for them?
Food for thought -->

                  I really don't begrudge the sportsman a nice payday if they do well. Their careers are really short-lived and so often you hear of them falling into hard times after.

                      Most of us are ok. Just the liu lian and bip jiu so lovingly playing ping pong – one piak there, the other piak back.

                        If you ponder further, don't you feel that attempting to win \"at all cost\" in Olympic itself have degraded the value of sports?

                        If sports results in detriment of well-being, it is such a shame.

                        Train, test the limits of men, fine.. but to win at all cost seems pretty wrong in concept & value.

                        And, I feel, training a full time sportsmen with the sole purpose being to take part in Olympics is wrong use of resources and money.

                        I feel it would be better if, say, a skilled sportsmen is a coach or sometime to promote or train our sportsmen. Then, due to their skills, they are selected to take part in Olympic. Instead of doing nothing else but train and train for Olympics.. totally no meaning at all.

                        The plight of some of the Olympic champions is an insult to sports. If a sportsmen even pondered to sell the medal, then, the winning has lost it's value.

                        Why win in the first place?

                        If they have the passion, so be it. But, if there is true passion, hefty monetary reward as a carrot would not be a necessity. Wrong message, I say.

                        A reward like contract as well paid appointment as sports trainer/coach with benefits is more meaningful, I feel.
