      Hi CMUM,

Used to see KCPP distinctive girls' uniform- not pinafore. But recently saw a new version. At first tot was a student leader style but no ties or badges. So the sch is changing to new uniform? U know for boys, no special styles for ages. It just gets from shorts to Bermudas to pants! My criteria was uniform shorts must be dark colours. In fact, was very happy the 3 pri sch choices in my radar all wear black sch shoes ha ha.

      Hi rejoice,
I used to like to go out on weekends when the SA prep period starts as there are lesser crowd in most places 🙂 esp like ntuc becomes less queue. Even friends visiting also cut off as the mummies will say their children prep exam. Of cos, there is another group of parents like my bro who stills brings out the family for meal dates. I think I am the former category- 避关修炼

        Hi Ninjago,

I used to be clueless about all the SA and CA tests. When DS was P1, we took them for a short holiday during the PSLE test school break which was suppose to be the time to prepare for SA2 ;-). Got a note from the FT to kindly remind me to revise with my DS instead of holiday. Hahaha. So this year I am wiser. Prepare earlier and enjoy the break as usual.

Wow so the teachers load them with homework during the oral break assuming they are free! But then it is so tempting for holiday break with the extra Monday holiday!

My fren DS in P6 in a competitive sch n top class. Besides going for oral exams, the teachers loaded them with extra extra extra homework. Very realistic - last lap to run so just forfeit whatever holidays!!!

            Hi Ninjago,

Actually for P1 and P2 life is very relax. DS spent one afternoon at student care on his homework and then he is free after that;-). He did not have any homework during June holiday so I have to find things to occupy his time. Hahaha.

But things will be different for upper primaries. I heard the workload will be increased "appropriately". Hahaha. I just need to be prepared when DS1 goes P3 next year.

Just to check with the mums here. If the children are dismissed at 1.15pm like how it used to be, wouldn’t that be a very late lunch if my DD still has to take school bus? If the recess is early like 9 or 930, the kids would be very hungry.

Oh by the way, a friend of mine said the school practices ‘jumping topics’ for Math in P1 and P2. Parents were not informed beforehand, true?

                  Hi Beauty,

Dismissal after 1pm is a common practice by most schools. I know a few schools dismiss the students after 1:30pm. Hence 1:15pm is considered early. Last year TGPS's dismissal time is at 1pm. DS took school bus home and often had his lunch at 2pm instead. Hence I tried to pack him full breakfast with package milk so he won't be too hungry when he came back.

As for Math topic, so far DS's teacher has been following the syllabus quite closely. May be just individual teacher or for some specific reason that the teacher did that. As I gave him assessment worksheet to do, I often check with him which topic they covered and let him practice accordingly.

                    Hi Rejoice,

Hope you had an enjoyable Hari Raya weekend amid answering all the parents' Q&A. 😄

I have been kept busy with my girl's \"little hill\" of school homework and her preparation for CA2. P4-5 still have 2 more papers after the holidays.
On top of it, she still has her tuition homework and revision... :nailbite:

To your point on school homeworks - yes, as they slowly promote to higher primaries, the homework also level up, so we need to start them young and prepared them mentally when they are in P1&2.

We don't normally plan holidays, other than March/June/Sep and December. When i read that you used the PSLE as holidays, i can't help laughing..sorry. I guess that's norm for first time P1 parents... 😉

                    Beauty,
Some teachers may jump topics but eventually all are covered in time for SA1 and SA2. So not to worry on the jumping topics.

                    Regards,
                    Astee

                      Hi Astee,

Haha. Yes, first time P1 parents just can’t wait for kids to get out of school for holiday. Hahaha. I am glad that at least for P1 & P2 kids, this long weekend came after their CA2 so they can at least have a break after the stressful week :-). Won’t think of using next PSLE break for another holiday this round, hahaha.

When I gave DS1 more assessment to do preparing for CA2, he complaint I gave him too much, sigh. Looks like he is going to get a surprised when he goes P3 next year though I keep telling him about his P3 workload :-(. Oh well, they are very good at adapting to changes so hopefully he will do just fine. Hahaha.

                        Hi Cmum,

Well said. You can always drop by too to tell us about what happen to your precious one in the new school. I am sure there will be lots of good stories to share too 😄

Time sure flies. Very soon term three will be over and year end is just around the corner. Besides putting in the final effort to help DS to get ready for SA2, I think I should start shopping for a hood alarm clock to train both DSs to wake up with the alarm instead of relying this walking alarm.
                        Hi rejoice,

Sure, I will definitely share here. 🙂
