NO, it's wrong and ineffective...
MR LESLIE Fong (\"The rightful slaughter of Three-Legged Chicken\"; Monday) asserts that the high quality of public discussions achieved by the ban on pseudonyms in The Straits Times can be transferred to online forums by doing the same.
However, the Internet is a different medium: It has a larger user base and is uncensored; so undesirable remarks in online forums are inevitable....
http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-letters/story/yes-be-fair-identify-yourself-20120818
YES, Be fair, identify yourself...
I CONSIDERED it a right and courageous move in 1989 when Forum writers were barred from using pseudonyms (\"The rightful slaughter of Three-Legged Chicken\"; Monday)...
What do you think?
All the forums can close shop Liao... :censored:
So many Tan Ah Kow... How to identify later? :scratchhead:

What’s next? All men must wear red underwear on Sunday’s?

I would have said yes in the past, but I vote no now. There is value in anonymity.

Yes indeed, certainly some value there...

Just look at comments on online forums and comments when people on the streets were interviewed with their full face on TV....

              BIG difference......

That would be good. Lucky I only stock red underwear.

The value of the Internet is its ability to allow people to communicate without the prejudice usually present in face-to-face intercourse. Without even touching on stereotypes or racist issues, consider this: would you seriously listen closely to anyone who has just eaten garlic for lunch? Half of the time you are probably trying to think of excuses to remove yourself from the conversation.

Focus on the issue, not the person making the issue. That is what the Internet allows, and that is what we uphold in KiasuParents.com.

Ermm.. (what's next?) Women must wear bikinis on Sundays. Yes, red too. If you prefer.
