Hi, is it sufficient to bring just the Chinese and Maths textbooks and workbooks plus 6 exercise books (2 for each subject) on the 1st day of school? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi netserver,
Are you referring to the workshop by the parent volunteers?
The orientation should be on 28 Dec. -
Hi csb.
the P1 orientation for kids is on 28dec. but on 26nov, there was a workshop for p1 parents.csb:

Hi csb,
U could refer to the small green booklet distributed to parent in Oct’09. The booklet stated clearly what to pack for the 1st day of school or else come for the orientation on the 28 Dec’09 to confirm items to pack.
See u there cause my son is in P1 next year, too. -
Thanks, I forgot about that
Which class will your child be in? -
Hi netserver, could you share any helpful tips/advice from the workshop?
I missed it as I was overseas. -
Hi csb,
He is in P1G next year. Is our kids happen to be in the same class? I think the orientation is more important where the student will get to make the principal, form teacher and get to familiarise themselves the school. The talk on 26 Nov on preparation for P1 basically try to ensure the parents the following:
1) you are in safe hands cause the teachers and PSG would help your child the first week of school (during recess time especially) and
2) get your child mentally prepare for the big change which the child would have been or going to be brief thru if they were in PAP and childcare centres. -
Hi 2818,
Thanks for the sharing.
My boy will be in 1C, and he’s looking forward to the orientation. We brought him to the school compounds when the school had a carnival, and he liked what he saw.
We can introduce the boys --they will feel more at ease/less nervous if they see familiar faces. Will pm you nearer the time. -
Hi csb.
basically they emphasis alot on mental prep for the kids and that we should gradually \"elimate\" the afternoon nap time weeks before school starts.
my child is in 1H.
hope to you around

Thanks netserver.
Afternoon naps is no issue for my son. He stopped having naps at least 2 years ago.
However, I do agree with the mental preparation part. My son is still trying to accept that P1 classes won't have play time like in kindy
