Can the teachers finish the syllabus so early? :? And what do they do after SA2?

You are right. It's always a mad rush to finish the syllabus and I have to teach the last few topics myself in advance so that DD can start revision early. There's barely enough time to do much revision between the time teacher finishes syllabus and start of SA2. Hence this is a very stressed period for me. Got an additional problem this year as my one year old is competing with the older one for my attention and it's so hard to focus with her screaming in the background. Last year was great as I was on maternity leave and the baby would gui gui lie on the bed and stare at the ceiling fan Quite a headache this year as she loves to walk into DD1's room and try to get the older one to play with her.

DD1 will have paper 2 in week beginning 8 Oct, break for a week on 15 Oct (PSLE marking), go back to school to check exam papers and other fun events and then that's it! Last day of school on 26 Oct. :imcool: :rahrah:

Hi Trina, wow your DD's exam starts really early. Has she gotten her exam timetable?


My DD's exam starts on 3rd week of September and we have yet to get the actual timetable. Her last day of school is 9 November.

Your DD is so lucky to start her hols on 26 October. :please:

Guess Term 4 is always a mad rush and pressurising one - especially with SA2 which has lot more components - Listening Compre, Oral, Paper 1(Compo), Paper 2...

Yes, DD1 mentioned that Teachers are already \"back-to norm\" started to teach the new syllabus yesterday and she came home with few homework again!

I agree with you. Luckily Rulang doesn't have CA2. So, I'm letting DS1 enjoy his Sept holidays and since SA2 doesn't start after PSLE marking days, I think he have enough time to catch up with his revision. We still got the 4 days PSLE marking days to revise.

I think PSLE year is even worse, with Sa1 and two prelims before the PSLE and all before October!


Are all schools having two prelims? I only have one prelim during my donkey years time. What has happened to our education system?! Its just too crazy!

I heard 'O' level also have two prelims. :mad:

I am taking things one step at a time and I think DD's school has only one prelim if not wrong. In my opinion, back to back exams schedule may do more harm than good to the kids.

I don’t even remember having prelim for psle last time. Only remember I read one science guide and teacher let us do two english

Yes I think you are right, there wasn't any prelims at primary level, it was 'O' prelim that I got mix up.

DS had one last test next week. There is no ca2 formal exam but many tests.

I read the above blog over and over again - Yes, more than thrice. Why? Because I can relate her experience with what I have gone through recently. I was in a dilemma whether should I share here (since it is not a \"good\" new) but then again am encouraged that whether good or bad - it is an experience that I went through

DD1 called me in the office on Thursday - sobbing. I knew it and already prepared to listen. Thankfully, there was no meeting and not many colleagues around at that timing so I was able to concentrate on the phone. Yup, she received her result for the CA2 and for the 1st time in her school life, she got Band 3 for Maths - 68/100. The paper has not returned to the class yet so there's no way that I can check which are the mistakes or careless works. I e-mailed the FT (taking EL & Maths) regarding DD1's emotion level and reaction towards the result. FT called me within an hour - thankful

She was already home when she got my mail so she too did not have the paper on hand. But she mentioned that the paper was \"doable\" - not pitched at a difficult level and this top class has generally done much better than the other in the school :roll:

As a parent, the pain is not so much of the result but my child's emotion :sad: Am relieved to find that I am not walking this journey alone - after reading on mummy Petunia's blog.

So, I have given a reward to DD1 for her effort and hard work - movie ticket to the show \"brave\" with her 2 buddies this afternoon! :love: :please: :imcool:
