No really. Diff school has diff acceptance criteria. For example NUSH and ACSI , GEP or not have equal chance, they both have to participate in the entry test and be selected from there.
For NUSH, it is stated that those who wish to join them (not thru DSA) but after release of PSLE results, those students who receive A* for Math and Science are highly encouraged to apply.
I am sure many who applied must have maths olympiad credentials and I would be surprised if they don't look at them. -

:offtopic: mabye they want to filter out those not so gifted but managed to qualify for gep via gep-preparation tuitions and hard working... -
