      Hi!

I am a student from Dunman High and I just want to add on that I am very proud to be a student of Dunman High and the teachers in my school are very dedicated to what they are doing and when I was underperforming last year, my teachers gave me additional consultation (they still do when you ask šŸ˜„ ) and my grades improved!
      :welcome: and thanks for sharing!
I am very heartened to see more students in various school threads.
The very hardworking Augmum has been sharing selflessly in this thread.
Looks like you  your school and you are happy and proud to be there šŸ˜„ And you have a good attitude towards studies - underperforming but bounce up with teachers' help and definitely lots of hard work on your part :boogie:
It is not easy adjusting to IP life from primary school especially if you are a mainstreamer - many adjustments .. All the best and look forward to see more posts from you about your school life.

        Hi Snow Crystal,

Do you mind sharing some examples as my dd is from the mainstream and I would like to prepare her mentally if she's planning to go DHS.

        Thanks!

So what is the outcome of yr child 's DSA to DHS ? Are the results out ?

(Usually, they are rather late in releasing their DSA results).

General comment not particularly for DHS - most kids in primary school mainstream are hand held by their teachers and/or tutors to attain good results. In IPs, in general, they do not do hand holding and also so many things have to be discovered or learnt by the kids themselves - self initiative, independence, be ready for changes and non structures. Plus assignments, projects, hands on task which the GEPpers have been trained from p4 are totally not familiar to mainstreamers. So time management, team work, EQ have to come in. All in all, be open to new experiences, don't expect teachers to spoon feed or hand hold any more. As parents, I think we should allow the kids room to grow and learn to be independent. If we had been very active parents guiding them in primary school, better cut down and it's ok to let them try and stumble a bit. The earlier they become independent and self-learner, the better youths they will become. It's tough for them to transit so let's be patient with them and not add anxiety to them in their jump from a P6 guided kid to an independent learner in IP...

Thank you Snow Crystal. I also believe in bringing up an independent self-learner kid. My dd is very much on her own, so hopefully she does not have much problems adjusting to IP sch. Thanks!

Oh, then she should be in good hands.
Kids like her survive well in IPs šŸ˜„ šŸ˜‰
