        Hi Snow Crystal,
Do you mind sharing some examples as my dd is from the mainstream and I would like to prepare her mentally if she's planning to go DHS.
        Thanks!

General comment not particularly for DHS - most kids in primary school mainstream are hand held by their teachers and/or tutors to attain good results. In IPs, in general, they do not do hand holding and also so many things have to be discovered or learnt by the kids themselves - self initiative, independence, be ready for changes and non structures. Plus assignments, projects, hands on task which the GEPpers have been trained from p4 are totally not familiar to mainstreamers. So time management, team work, EQ have to come in. All in all, be open to new experiences, don't expect teachers to spoon feed or hand hold any more. As parents, I think we should allow the kids room to grow and learn to be independent. If we had been very active parents guiding them in primary school, better cut down and it's ok to let them try and stumble a bit. The earlier they become independent and self-learner, the better youths they will become. It's tough for them to transit so let's be patient with them and not add anxiety to them in their jump from a P6 guided kid to an independent learner in IP...

        Not too worry Whitety.....
there are over 10 classes for sec1 , and there are only 2 classes for SBGE,
so majority of them are fr mainstreams ....
Yes, pupils in IP are trained to take ownerships of their learning.....ask and learn along the way....
via projects, assignments and CCA activities tasks ....
all these nurtured them towards independing learning....

Oh...i dunno abt the chance of converting WL to CO.
Dont be too discouraged or disappointed even if it is not converted into a CO,
there is still a very good chance via S1 posting (a much easier route).
The fact that yr DDs received WLs already speak for their academics abilities that
they shd be able to perform well in PSLE, satisfying the COP of DHS...

come to the worst scenario.... appeal with yr WLs after S1 posting if unsuccessful....

ALL THE BEST for their coming PSLE ....JIA YOU !!!

She received CO from both NYGH and DHS, so we will be turning down NYGH’s offer.

                Wasted hor…

hehe....i can understand yr feeling of kinda of \"wasted\" for rejecting NYGH.....like me few yrs ago.... BUT...
when we have the luxury of waking up later in the morning and comng home earlier than others.....
no crazy traffic jams at the exit.....,
knowing our kids enjoying and feeling proud of their chosen school,
the sense of feeling \"wasted\" has diminished...... 😉 😄 (though some relatives n frens of mine still think that i shd choose otherwise)

                      Hi everyone!

Just came across this forum and found it very interesting to read. I'm an ex-Dunmanian who graduated last year and I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in DHS.

Should any of you parents have any questions regarding dhs/ junior high/ senior high/ a-levels or anything else I'll try my best to answer 🙂 and give a student's perspective of course.

                        Hi Whitety,

I think the chance of WL to CO is quite high.

I know at least 3 of DD's classmate will not be taking the up DHS offer.
Gd luck n hope you will receive the CO soon.

Our children must all jia you for PSLE. 😄
