Can I please ask if 113,213,313 & 413 are where the best students are placed?

No, because 313 and 413 are grouped based on their subject combi. For 113 and 213 i can't give you a guaranteed answer, because every class has people that do well and usually the teachers don't tell us the average class GPAs so nobody really knows(or bothers) 😂

Thank you very much. As you can imagine from my username, I do get spaced out.

One more question, if I may. I was made to understand that all the Sec 1 classes will be SBGE but going through the thread, I get the impression that only 109~113 are recognized as the GEP class. Did I get my initial understanding wrong? :? :?
All the classes in Year 1 do the same syllabus. Only that 109-113 are made up of GEP students and top PSLE scorers, so they would progress at a faster pace.

Hi cluelessmama,
I actually answered this question in the DSA thread; you must have missed it. 😄

In year 1, the special programmes avail are:
1. Music Elective Programme (Recommended Grade 5 Practical/Theory)
2. Special Arts Programme
3. Regional Studies Programme (Must take Malay as 3rd lang)
4. 3rd lang (offered by MOE based on performance in EL n MT as well as PSLE T-score)
5. Malay Special Programme
6. Chinese Special Programme

The girls are allowed to apply to only ONE special Programme.
There are more to come in years 2-4.

Thx for your reply. I used the search to look for Talent Development Programme, and I see a few posts but with no answers to what I'm looking for. Maybe, I might missed it 🙂

Indeed! from Yr 3 onwards, it's based on subject combi. GEP classes just for grouping, as we all know, that does not mean all are high T-scorers, as long as CO during DSA, even below the cut-off point still get into GEP class. While mainstreamers must meet or above cut-off. All that got in are high achievers…

Jtoh's quote: just a few high PSLE T-scorers not = to best class. all these girls high achievers……we are aware a number of girls watch TV & sleep rather early still got good grades , while some from GEP sleep late and study very hard….

generally, all the girls will do well once they get over the initial phase of Yr 1… getting used to the Raffles Program. :snooze: :rahrah:

:rahrah:

Can I say that every child admitted into rgs will be in some kind of Talent Development Programme? I'm asking coz I'm a little confused by the CO.

Not surprised you missed it since the DSA thread was moving so fast in the past weeks.

Anyway, during Reporting Day, your DD should receive a folder with all the info on the special programmes inside. There's a Q & A session as well for parents to raise their queries.

There are a number of girls who choose not to be in any special programme in year 1; some fail to qualify.
