MMM, I had the same thoughts too that's why I sent him to a boys' school. haha

But after so many bullying incidents, I am wavering... just hoping that he can end up in a good secondary school, hopefully the boys' school in bishan. 🙂

err.. both schools are IN the news for the wrong reason now isnt?
one with the PSG prob and the other with the 'teacher student' prob? The 'latter' being the more serious one!

its really a headache case when come to bullying case in school. I noticed most of the teachers are brushing it off lightly. So on 1 hand i had to teach my son to retaliate or he will be on losing end or end up being builled more.

DS just told me yesterday that 1 of his classmate keep pushing his back and final came a box in his stomach during robotics lesson. He told the teacher in charge and the teacher only make a remarke \" oh you boys are so violent\" and that it.

Already ask DS to stay away from this classmate today and if he does it again, i will bring it up to the school. 😞

Would like to check how long does this bullying has been persistent? The teachers and the principal have not done anythng abt it? hmm… since our boys are at such a tender age, if the school is not doing anything, how would our kids be protected?

Just a thought, writing an appeal letter to the principal or school board of MOE will help??

Bullying is nothing new and every school has bullying, big or small. It’s up to the parents to blow it up or just swallow it.

Parents feel helpless since they can’t be with the kids and protect them. We can only rely on the teachers to instil discipline and punish the aggressors to protect the weak.

I find that if teachers are initiative and proactive in meting out punishment to the bully quickly, the parents will not pursue further. This happened a few times with my boy and I didn’t need to pursue the matter coz the teacher "settled" it.

We can teach our kids to retaliate or avoid but even when given the licence to hit back, our more civilized kids can’t make themselves retaliate coz it’s just not in them to fight. So such kids lose out by being gentlemen…

I believe the school is looking into it but without CCTVs and CSI, no one can be sure who is the real bully and who is the actual victim. Sometimes, the aggressor has a medical condition and we are also asked to be more understanding…
