Thanks netserver.
Afternoon naps is no issue for my son. He stopped having naps at least 2 years ago.
However, I do agree with the mental preparation part. My son is still trying to accept that P1 classes won't have play time like in kindy

Hi,
I think it’s also good to teach the kids of how to count money and buy things on their own. You can start to prepare them by asking them to buy simple stuff.
Talk about all the interesting and positive stuff about school so that they are there to enjoy themselves.
It can be quite an adjustment for kids. From small kindy to an environment with 330 kids/ 660 kids (including P2). They are also expected to be discipline. Eg. pay attention when the teacher is talking, don’t chat non stop with friends during assembly, etc…
Also teach them how to clean themselves. I recall that my nephew would leave his "big business" only when he reaches home. But what if there are emergency??? I also heard from kids that there are friends who actually pee in class, etc… Teach the kids to ask for permission to go toilet, etc… The P1 going in 2010 are lucky as the school is new, I recall that last year when they were in the temporary school, the principal mentioned that some kids just refused to go to toilet as it’s old, dirty and squatting. But I observed the kids toilet tend to be dirty eg. not flushing after use, peeing on the floor, etc…
For us, we also let the kids have a emergency $ in their school bag. In case they forget to bring $,etc… It also has our contact, etc… -
I remember when my boy was in P1, he had a unforgetable experience during recess. Apparently he tried to borrow a fork from the canteen vendor. His voice was too soft and as a result the vendor ignored him. He cried terribly hard because he is unable to eat his food in his lunch box and called me from the public phone. I tried calling the general office because I was so worried and thought my boy had a fall in school. The lady from the general office was so kind to go to the canteen to look for my boy, calm him down in the general office and called me back, assuring me that my boy is fine and passed the phone to my boy to talk to me. Really appreciate what she has done that day. Thank you.
Maybe you can try to teach your kid how to use a public phone. I was so excited when my kid called me during recess

After reading thru all the comments, I realised something that I wish to share with the parents that children went thru childcare life during their young seems to be more independent. My son has already told how to buy things and get back their change, how to make public phone calls to parents during emergency, how to clean up in the toilet, etc. He becomes very outspoken which can be good and bad in a way, too. But parents here don’t worry so much I believe the teachers and PSG inclusive the admin staff would do a good job on all these areas during the 2010.
I really felt not only the kids has to be mentally prep for the change to P1 we parents, too.
Lets me take this opportunity to wish you Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! before we going to stress ourselves in 2010. -
Hi
My children are in Bao Ta at the moment. Did not check out the Maha Bodhi Student Care. I think there are more than 2 Student Care Centres around this area.
Have you put your child in Bao Ta? -

As parents we would like to have the best for our children, I can’t basically complain too much about their services as I think everywhere would be the same. Most important, is that your child like the environment and location is convenient.
Age 6 and 8 this year.
Is your child going to P1 in Maha Bodhi next year? Which class? -
Hi 2818,
My son is also in 1G next year. It’s so nice to hear that your child is also in class 1G. -
hi MMM,
btw, are there any pools in the sch? or any cca on swimming?MMM:
For P1, they will be stream based on their chinese results after SA1. They will be stream again after their P1 SA2 results. Basically kids will stay in the same class until P2 but during chinese lessons, they will go to their respective CL class. A typical example is that those in \"stronger\" class may have more than 30 pupils. I heard from my P2 girl that she had close to 40 in her class. Meanwhile for those who are weak in the subject, they will probably have 20 + pupils so that the teacher can pay more attention to the weaker students.
On the other hand, note that those in \"stronger\" class will typically be given more difficult tingxie list or will be expose more due to their ability. At the end of the day, all kids will sit for the same paper.
Then from P2 to P3, they will be stream again based on overall results. There is only 1 best class in P3. The rest will be a mix of children of different abilities.
The color house remain the same throughout. -
Hi, I am a newbie. I need advice for science & maths tuition for my girl (P4 next year), she scored 19/20 for her problem sums but had a lot of careless mistakes in Sect A & B so she only got B3 in the end. As for Science, she had a B3 too. I think MB set quite a tough paper for them this year. So, should I go for enrichment class like MindMax or MPM maths, mindstretcher, etc. for her Maths? As for science, i am opting for Formation as Chancery Court.
