Good Montesorri suitable for Vegetarian Toddlers
-
Very delighted to hear that there’s another toddler on vegetarian diet !
Just to share.
We stay in Tiong Bahru. My 27 months old son attends half day Montessori CC. He has his breakfast at home and we bring lunch for him at about 1030 am (lunch time at school is 11am) so that he can have his meal together with the classmates. -
Hi Little cheng,
my hubby and i have been vegetarian for abt 20years already.
but i lived at yishun and im working. therefore, i have to send him to school near my hse here. but some of the centre i heard is not so good.but as recommended by sunny, i contacted greentree montessori and they have vegetarian children so its nice to hear that.
probably im sending him for half day cos the full day cost 900 dollars /mths and its hefty. -

my 2 kids are with a montessori school for more than 2 years. I have been preparing their vegetarian lunch since then. Though it's tiring, I am happy that they are having more variety and colourful dishes. -
u r a great mum. can i know wat kind of food u prepare?
I found one cc, carpe diem, they will provide veg meals but not cook separately. They’ll jus take out e meat from the dish. For soup I may nd to buy those instant one so the aunty can prepare for my sons. Worried is my younger one a bit greedy may eat the meat. U heard of carpe diem is it good? -
Hi my sons are vegetarians same as me. I have difficulties locating a child care near my place so I placed them at non-veg child care but requested the centre to separate the meat ingredients during cooking,i.e. the auntie will cook with all non-meat ingredients first, dish out my son’s portion then cook the rest with meat. Sometimes, the auntie will add more veg or an egg for my son to substitute the meat.
As my sons are not as strict as me in their diet, I find this is the most feasible arrangement for me as a full time working mum. Actually, even this, I had to enquire at a few child cares before finding one that is willing to do this…
I also realised that having my son in a non-veg childcare means that i have to educate him on his differences with other friends earlier. In fact, my son learnt the word vegetarian in school when the teacher told him that he is a vegetarian and he can’t share food with his friends. One thing to take note though is that younger children may not understand this concept too well and may have negative feelings…
Just my own experience to share. Hope it’s useful. -
ya so far I also found most of the cc needs us to prepare veg food. it’ll be v tiring lo. Now i found one tat can prepare also to separate e meat out but not sure if e aunty is kind enf to cook e veg 1st.
actually my son already in one veg cc, but nw he shows tantrum, dun wan goes to cc. not sure wat happen…
e principal is nt so friendly. she’s not a strict veg only eat during 1st& 15th lunar calendar.she a bit temperamental also. I dun hve any feedback from the tchers there about my son’s performance nor behaviour. only during the once 6th mth parent session then they c me. n it oni less than 10 min of discussions… sigh. b coz of my son changes n “feedback” prob i decide to send him non-veg cc. now hopes to hear from all mummy or parents who shares my worries…
my another issue is my hb not veg also… -
