Nice to know you
Oh you loves bags too !! I know getting bags from Hk is cheaper but never have a chance to get it from there. Always bought my bags either from Singapore or from Europe which hubby used to travel to for business trips.
Hmm as to what your relatives said you don't have to take it to heart they are just jealous of you?
Now that you bring up this topic I am curious to know from many SAHM here. Do you really think that we need to treat our hubby exceptional \"nice\" in return for letting us be a SAHM ?
For me, I never think of it this way. Of cos, when my hubby asked me to be SAHM I feel being loved and blessed and no doubt I love him even more (as compared to before marriage). This is a mutual feeling.
By loving him more, I will want to cook more of his fave food and let him come back to a happy family after a tiring day. -

Hi all, i don't actually belong to this club since i'm a stay at home dad but the discussion about 'staying at home and therefore need to be extra nice to your partner' is a very interesting one which i have debated in my head for many years. I've been a stay at home dad now for 6 yrs, since my 1st child was born. I do every thing since we don't have a helper. I know for a fact that my wife would rather swap places with me but since she makes a lot more money than me, we decided that financially it was better for me to stay at home. The first 3 yrs were hard for us cos she made her \"unhappiness\" sometimes pretty obvious and we'd have plenty of fights. Things have settled done now but i always feel like i have to justify my staying at home and for at least 4 years i didn't have any ME time. That was a very trying and tiring time for me. I finally started playing soccer with friends once, maybe twice a week and that was my ME time. I also have been in the last 2 years on 2 boys weekends away but i felt very guilty asking \"permission\" and going. So even though i do all this now, I still feel the need to justify my position (adding the fact that there are not many stay at home dads, some people seem to view me as lazy). Both of my kids are only now just in school full time so once again I've had to justify staying at home still since i still need to either pick them up or be at home when they return home. What do you ladies think, is there a need to justify?(BTW i'm already in process of justifying my still being at home)

I have more or less accepted that I will continue to stay home even when kids are grown up. I was earning marginally more than hubby when I quit my job. He felt that either one of us should stay home to nurture dd1.
We agreed I should be the one to stay home because my job required long hours so I was super deprived from my baby whereas his hours were regular so his work life balance is better. He agreed with me although he felt that he is better at handling dd1 than me. We also intend to have a 2nd baby after I quit so that I could be in a relaxing environment during pregnancy versus working crazy hours.
No need to justify why I intend to continue to stay home. I’m away from workforce for far too long, approaching 10 years so it’s hard to return or rather I’ve no desire to return to work any more. There are plenty of ways to pass time & I’m happy to remain a SAHM. -
And I somehow feel that work environment seems to favor working father more than working mother. Say a father took leave to attend to child, colleagues view him positively as a doting father. A mum took leave for same reason yet colleagues likely to think she prioritize family over work. Maybe it’s just me or do you ladies feel it too?

Hi,
Coincidentally I’ve been thinking about the qn shd I be exceptionally nice to my hb since I’m a SAHM while he brings back d bacon?
I guess a lot may think so but I’m in a dilemma. I contribute a lot or equally as my hb. He earns to support us but I do contribute to my family. I’m physically & 24/7 standby for my kids. My kids r koala to me. Everything is Mummy, Mummy. At times when I’ m at my lowest point, I feel suffocated, no ME time. I do not hv 101% support from my hb when I suggested to be a SAHM. Mummies out there who hv ur hbs’ support, u r blessed!
So at times when I’m down, I feel very sad. I tried to do all chores myself cos I tell myself, since I wanted to be a SAHM, I shd do everything.
But to be exceptionally nice to hb, I think I can’t. M kids r taking up most of my time. If given time, I rather be alone. Many say children foster the marriage & relationship between spouses. But I beg to differ…
I continue my route for my kids in mind. -

- I don't see it as him 'letting' me be a SAHM.
- being a SAHM means that I feel obliged to take on a lot of duties
- We made a joint decision based on family circumstances and needs, and we both have made some sacrifices as well gained by the decision.
Of course I do my best to make the home a happy place, manage the housework, take care of the kids etc, but cooking and housework are not my strong points and my family has to put up with simple fare and slapdash housekeeping because that is the best I can do.

Met with some of my relatives a week ago. Really very demoralized. The first word from them - must treat yr husband good and gentle
You keep the money la
My hubby always said he's like a bank teller, only get to count $ but doesn't get to keep :rotflmao:
