So for term 4, the tests will include the whole year's syllabus? Sounds more like a year-end exam to me. 😐

Yes, for term 4 is whole year syllabus... 😓 I wonder why this school has so many test & exam for Pri 1.

Yesterday my DD brought back concern form for Maths Practical test on 21st or 27th Sept for acknowledgement, i can't remember the actual date... 😉 Very stress, after holiday test again.

Oh, I din see that form. Hubby signed it. Lol... Always so many forms and books to sign 😐

There was also a maths test on 2nd or 3rd week of term 3 too. I think maths is ok. DD n her kakis scored full marks for Monday's test.

my daughter was in P6 last year and my son is in P5 this year.

The top PSLE student score for 2010 is 274 and for 2011 is 266. I should say there are some good teacher and some not so good teacher in CVPS.

For P1 and P2, the students will remain in the same class, meaning P1/7 will go to P2/7 next year. But for P3, the students will be split up based on their P2 final results as shown in the report book. The best no. 1-40 will go to P3/1, then no. 41-80 will go to P3/2 based on their English and Math (exclude mother tongue), these 2 classes are considered the 2 best classes and the school will give these 2 classes more exercises, homework and pay more attention to them. The rest will be based on Math result to go to P3/3 and so on.

For P4, P5 and P6 again the top 40 will go to 1st class, then no. 41-80 will go to the 2nd class based on their English, Math and this time with Science as well. But for CVPS, the school will not let you know your child’s ranking in the class at all, they will only inform the no. 1 in the class to attend the annual prize giving day on the last week of term 4.

My daughter ever in P3/5 and P4/7, then she was in P5/2 and P6/2, so i know quite a couple of teachers who is not so good and the good teachers. As for my son, he is in the top class all this while.

To be frank, parents’ commitment is very important. I am a homemaker, i taught my kids 3 subjects except Science which is taught by my husband.

Please note that all the above informations are true at this point.

Thanks smileplease for the insightful feedback.

Yes, I agree with u that there are good and not so good teachers. My girl’s previous Chinese teacher wasn’t so good. She seemed to perform better with the current Chinese teacher after being streamed into the normal Chinese class.

Yes, us parents have to put an effort in our kid’s learning & not rely too much on the teachers. Her FT told me that she will concentrate more on those kids that don’t perform well. As a FTWM, I do find it taxing that I have to check with my girl on her homework, tests etc every night. Test revision is only about a max of 1 hour on work nights.

This will be a new outlet of Pro-teach at CVPS, so no information to share at the moment.
